Self Assessment: Defining Personal Strengths and Weaknesses
The identification of managerial abilities and strengths performs an essential role in career development because it helps individuals to match their skills with their goals and objectives. Throughout this self assessment essay introduction chapter, I completed several tests and assignments. Also, I studied several attributes that define leaders as well as their strengths and capabilities within a work environment. After completing multiple tasks and tests, I identified attributes and qualities that make me a strong or a weak manager. Also, I completed a self-assessment test that helped me to establish my areas of strength as well as weakness in management. Although the final assessment in this chapter revealed that I possess several basic interpersonal skills, I should work to enhance my abilities to organize people and delegate managerial responsibilities.
I believe I can begin my career at the managerial level because I possess the ability to set and accomplish personal and organizational goals. Throughout this chapter, I learned that a competent manager should set open-minded goals and evaluate direct them toward overall corporate objectives. In this regard, I believe that I can make a good leader because I assess my performance frequently and compare them with preset goals. Also, I often set open-minded goals to accommodate my colleagues’ ideas especially during group work. However, I avoid group politics especially in situations that may hurt my peers’ emotions. Therefore, I believe I can start my career at the managerial level because I evaluate personal performance frequently and accommodate competing ideas from colleagues.
Also, I believe that I can start my career at the managerial level because I can play team roles in an organized manner. Throughout this chapter, I learned that competent managers should have the ability to manage personal time, goals and direct them towards organizational objectives. I believe that I possess an outstanding strength to organize and complete personal tasks. For example, I often complete my assignments and domestic chores promptly. Also, I usually follow a preset schedule to perform my daily duties and like to correct colleagues when they make mistakes. Therefore, I believe that I can make an outstanding team leader because I reflect several managerial leadership skills according to this chapter.
Throughout this chapter, I realized that I should improve several personal attributes to become a competent manager. For example, I lack the confidence to command among peers. Throughout this chapter, I realized that I lack the confidence to complete difficult tasks such as puzzles. Also, I learned that I dislike pointing out mistakes from my colleagues’ decisions. I often feel like pointing out mistakes from my colleagues’ decisions is a show of pride. Therefore, I should focus on developing decision making and mobilizing skills to become a good manager.
To sum up, throughout this chapter, I completed several tasks and assignments that revealed my strengths and weaknesses concerning a career in management. I realized that I possess string abilities to identify personal skills especially regarding their essence within an organization. Notably, during this Chapter’s final assessment, I matched my strengths and weaknesses to various managerial roles. I believe that I possess multiple abilities and powers to pursue personal goals and direct them towards organizational objectives. Also, I completed numerous individual and group tasks that revealed the ability to work as a team. However, I realized that I should increase strengthen personal attributes such as self-respect and the ability to correct peers. Thus, I believe that this chapter performed a critical role in my managerial career because I identified my areas of strength and weaknesses.
