Strategic Management: Resolving Conflicts In The Workplace

Rebecca dislikes Ellen. Rebecca always has something negative to say about Ellen. In Rebecca eyes Ellen is set in the old ways of running things. Ellen has been working for the Winery for over 25 years. Ellen manages the Tasting Room and Hospitality. Ellen runs the area from the old ways from over 25 years ago. The winery is all about profit. Rebecca is an opportunistic, meaning driven to make the winery profitable. Rebecca wants Ellen fired. Ellen is not bringing any profit or customers to the Winery, too old and not skilled to run the area. Technology changes every day, Ellen is not acceptable to change. Larry and Rebecca are meeting a client at the Winery, Ellen is there also. While waiting on a client Larry’s wife goes into labor. Larry is nervous, knowing his wife is in labor. Larry wants to leave. Rebecca is pressuring him to stay, to meet the client. The client calls saying, there will be a late arrival. Ellen calls another colleague to step in and take Larry’s place in the meeting. Larry leaves to be with his wife. Rebecca was furious. Jen has an overload with planning the community event. Jen is always constantly interrupted. Jen suggested opening a daycare center for the employees that have children. The money will come from the funds raised from the community event. Some of the team disagreed, most of the team did not know about raising money from community event.

Motivations

Rebecca motives are not person. Rebecca’s is about making the financial results of the Winery to be profitable. Rebecca motivates employees to make wise decisions and choices about the Winery. Rebecca suggested to have opportunity for training employees. Ellen motivates employees to work hard and use effective communication. Employees should respect other employees. Ellen encourage employees to focus on the job task. Larry motivates employees not to do overloads, sometimes too much overload can hurt the business. Always respect the opinions of others and never discredit employees. Jen motivation is to manage time wisely. If help is needed ask.

Resolving Conflict

Rebecca should recognize Ellen’s experience with the winery and learn from it. Encourage other employees to learn from Ellen. Rebecca needs to offer training to Ellen. Training may be hard at first. Encourage Ellen change is good. Give Ellen an opportunity for advancement on another position within the Winery. Rebecca offers flexible hours and shorter work weeks for Ellen. Rebecca should make sure Larry is clear about the vision of the Winer. Rebecca makes sure all employees have support from management. All employees receive email about the Winery vision, common goals, and ways for everyone to meet those obligations. If personal time is needed notify management. Encourage Jen to set goals and reach all the goals. Management will listen to employee’s opinions, praise, and recognize the team. The team will eliminate less mistakes, apologize when needed, and help. If overload occurs, a team member will step in to help.

Tasks/Responsibility

Ellen manages and performs out the everyday needs of the tasting room, deals, and general operations for Winery. Ellen is the essential contact for Winery, individuals, tasting room workers and courier sellers. Ellen can affect the financial condition of the Winery through capacity to control expenses and increment deals. Ellen also keeps up a classy, inviting environment where clients can find out about the wine, taste, and think about wines and buy wines. Rebecca maintains staff, wine, and merchandise training and prepares all tasting room staff on deals framework and deals systems keeping in mind the end goal to build tasting room and retail location sales. Rebecca maintains staff levels and work schedule communications. Rebecca also manages projects, monitor sales in Winery, and maintain financial performance. Jen makes, facilitates, and executes events to increase sales. This incorporates wine parties, unique part occasions and tastings, off site occasions, and community events. Jen makes and keeps up quality relationships with clients that incorporate private people, and corporate occasion organizers. Gives effort to keep up or make new connections including day by day calls.

Challenges

The Winery is busy with handling the everyday elements of running a Winery. There is little time left and few resources to dedicate the team structure, administration, and accounting procedures and controls. Rebecca distinguishing and tackling problems with the Winery and related causes can enhance business decisions and proficiency, directions, enhance focus, and assist evaluate comes about with an eye to what is to come.

Overcome Challenges

Supportability can drive development by introducing new outline limitations that help improve how key assets, water, materials, and waste are utilized as a part of wine creation.
