Television Violence: Bad Influence On Young Generation

Technology has improved a lot and many things have come in this world and makes the life of people easy and comfortable. One of these things is television which boomed the society progress. TV has major effect on the life of people as it is a source of entertainment, knowledge as well a way for people enjoy and spend time with their family, friends etc. while watching television however, nowadays, various violent shows, dramas and other offensive content are being broadcasted on television that made the life of people worse because of various reasons such as fake news or violent movies, distraction of children from studies and celebrities or idols also play a significant role in decision making among children. Aggressive behavior of children Television violence has surged because of numerous reasons but one which I want to put on top is fake news or violated movies. Media show various news reports which are not totally true but have bad effect on the life of people specially children. Various evidences show that children behave very aggressively and always have phobias of being harmed only because of media violence. For instance, media shows news related to crimes and when people, more likely children watch such news, they feel unsafe everywhere and they start behaving very aggressively as they get scared of getting harmed everywhere. There are various movies which have negative effect on children as such movies show violent things such as fighting, robbery, rape incidents. Many people especially children are encouraged by such things and they also want to try such things. According to the US Secret Service report “over half of attackers demonstrated some interested in violence through movies, video games etc.”

Distraction of children from studies Another reason which I want to mention is distraction from studies. Children get distracted from their studies because they spend of their maximum time on television by which they do not develop their interest in studies and lose their concentration while studies as they always think about the things which they have seen on television. They always spend time in thinking what will happen next. Moreover, children start watching TV at the time when they should learn important skills such as social, intellectual, reading skills. Because of that they are not able to learn the skills which are used in future and they have to face a lot of problems. Studies shows that children spend more time on television than in the classroom. Impact of celebrities or idols Last but not the least reason is that celebrities of people. Most people, especially young generation, have celebrities or actor/actress as their role models. People, more likely youngsters, believe that whatever their role models do is right, and they copy their idols and they also start trying whatever illegal things their role models have done in movies. For example, actors do various stunts in movies and by watching such stunts, youngsters get motivated and they also indulge in such activities because of which sometimes they put their life at risk and sometimes they lose their lives while performing such stunts or acts.

Sometimes actors/actresses do activities like robbery, murders which puts more impact on children. According to Seattle physician, “some 1800 murders and countless detailed incidents of robbery, arson, bombing, forgery, smuggling, beating and torture” has been seen on television (1996). Conclusion Television acts as source of knowledge, entertainment through which people can get a lot of benefits but in present day people, particularly young generation, are making wrong use of television. They are turning the benefits into negative side by learning or trying bad things which led to violence. Because of TV violence, the life of society becomes worse, so people, especially children, should know about the difference between real and imaginary world which will help in decreasing the level of violence in which television plays a huge role.
