The Analysis To Gain An Insight Of Dell
The purpose of this analysis is to gain an insight of Dell Inc. Starting out providing general background information of the company. It also discusses an industry analysis and containing a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) table and analysis of the SWOT. Finally ending with marketing recommendations for Dell Inc.
Dell Inc Background
Dell Inc. an American computer company was founded, in 1984, by Michael Dell. Dell Inc. previously known as PC’s Limited and Dell Computer Corporation is a global company that designs, develops, and manufactures computers. Like many other companies today Dell was started by a student in college from his dorm room. Today the headquarters are located in Round Rock, TX. In the early 2000’s Dell expanded into other common household devices like televisions, cameras, and other computer products. Today Dell is a well-known brand globally. Dell operates in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and other regions.
Continuously changing
Dell has many strengths being a very large company it is not surprising. Its strengths include a continuously development of services for people’s products. They have operations globally in many regions. Dell has a large focus on researching and developing a variety of projects being new ideas or applications. Lastly, they are a large acquirer with acquiring Secureworks which protects $22 trillion worth of assets. They are constantly looking into acquiring more.
There are many things this company does right. Among the things that could be viewed as a weakness is that they aren’t involved in any of the trends. Although they don’t lose money, they are not making a profit in the area they could be. Dell does not have a tablet or watch like the current competitor do.
Industry Analysis
Continuous Changes. Today technology is a large market however it is continuously changing, growing and evolving. This however can also cause problems. Some companies cannot react fast to new trends or devices and they get left behind and forgotten. The trends are continuously changing years ago it was the iPod and other music devices and now everything is in your phone. One trend that seems to be fading now is the tablet. Many are either purchasing larger screen phones or thin touch screen laptops. Some of the biggest competitors for Dell today are Apple, Samsung, and Microsoft. They need to also try to be one step ahead of the competitors, so they won’t lose new opportunities
New Products. In today’s world anything is possible. There is always something new to create. It could be as average as a phone or something new that doesn’t yet exist. That’s the amazing thing with technology always growing it makes more and more things possible. The sky is the limit and if you can dream it you can try to make it a reality. So, the opportunities they have as a technology company is limitless.
Marketing Recommendation
My marketing recommendation is to use your strengths to talk advantage of your oppurtunites. Use customer recommendations to fuel you research and development. Focus in on certain regions. Listen to see if people are all looking for a similar item that you could develop first. People can give great ideas. This also would boost the company image in many ways. One is that they listen to the customers and have them involved in the process of developing. Two it would show that it is a company that cares for its customers and future customers. Listening to people could also open doors to new technologies and ways of thinking and expanding what we currently have
