The Benefits Of Horse Riding

Since humans began domesticating animals, horses have played a fundamental in promoting the development of humanity, as they signify royalty. Horses are used as a means of transport and for recreational purposes. Since childhood, I have been enthusiastic about horses, and I have had a desire to learn how to manage and ride them. However, I believed that horse riding was an activity reserved for the affluent, and to become a member of a rider’s club, one had to own a horse. These stereotypes vanished after my first encounter with a member of a horse riders’ group, who did not own a horse. Our school had organized a basketball competition, during which my classmate stood out as the best player. It was easy to notice his reflexes and sense of balance and coordination, which drove me to ask him how he had gained such skills. I learned that he was a member of the Horse Riders Movement, a horse-riding group in the community, which I eventually joined. Horsemanship; that is, the art of riding, training, and handling horses, teaches students to be courageous, develop assurance, and be responsible toward animals and humans.

The Horse Riders Movement is a group that coordinates horse-related activities such as organizing trail rides. The group comprises individuals who love animals, especially horses. Every member has experience in horse riding, or he or she has interacted with a steed. The group helps members enhance their skills in understanding the animals’ feeding schedules and overall well-being. People have misconceptions about the group; for instance, they believe that it is strictly for people who own horses. However, the movement serves the entire society so long as a person is interested in knowing more about horses. The group aims at informing people how to manage stallions and give them riding lessons.

Many individuals believe that riding is a monopoly for cowboys and the wealthy who ride for sports. Nevertheless, in contemporary society, several clubs and organizations have made horse riding accessible to every member of society. Besides gaining insights regarding horse management, these groups help members to create a network with other horse riders around the globe, which can be beneficial in other aspects of life, such as career opportunities and social events. I have become a good horse rider and have gained insights on how to form a human-animal bond. As a group member, I have a responsibility to manage the specific needs of the animal daily. Besides, I receive coaching from my peers, who give me guidance and directions on how to ride a horse.

Learning about steeds requires a person to be responsible since he or she will have to take care of the animal. Horsemanship training requires a person to have compassion, dedication, empathy, and self-control. Therefore, horse riding helps students to develop positive character traits. Notably, riders are trained to make quick decisions while on the back of a horse. For instance, if a horse is going in the wrong direction, the rider has to make a human and a quick decision to make it change direction. These practices help a person gain problem-solving skills. For this reason, people should be aware of the importance of being part of a horse’s riders’ movement because it is an essential source of information concerning the interaction between domestic animals and human development.
