The Bioghraphy of the Brave: Martin Luther King Jr

Martin Luther King Jr is the person that inspires me a lot. That is the reason why I chose to write about Martin Luther King Jr biography essay. This man was born on January 15, 1929 In Atlanta, which is in Georgia. King lived a very segregated childhood. When he was just five years old he was told he was not allowed to play with “white” kids. But he did not escape this segregation after childhood.

During the bus boycotts of 1955, King created a campaign on ending the segregation between people with black skin and people with white skin. On november 1, 1964, a package that contained a voice recording and a letter virtually telling King to take his own life was delivered to him. Due to King's determination, he refused to obey these orders and kept “fighting” harder than ever before.

In 1964, King acquired the Nobel peace prize for his non-violent approach to end the segregation between “white” people and the afro american population. King is considered inspirational or heroic because, he alone decided to form a campaign for ending the racial segregation between the two races. Out of his own braveness, he showed courage and “fought” for the end of racial segregation in a nonviolent way.For example, the Montgomery Bus Boycott was an important benefactor of King being considered a hero to this day. The Bus Boycotts of 1955 were a big deal in racial segregation at the time, they were certain bus seating plans, so that “black” people are limited to the back of the bus, whereas “white” people are allowed to sit at the front of the bus. What sparked King to fight for the end of segregation was the arresting of Rosa Parks, a young African American woman who decided she was going to sit in the “white” seating area. She sat in this seating area and she was arrested for it. This inspired King to start the civil rights movement. Because of these reasons King should be considered inspirational or heroic as he shows everyone that all it takes is courage, and you can achieve pretty much anything, Even if you start from being alone.

Martin Luther King has had a very large and strong impact on society. He has impacted society mostly through his contribution to ending racial segregation between black people and white people. For example, he has impacted society through affecting the life of the children of the southern states of America. He has helped them to be judged by their personal character, not by the colour of their skin. Through his campaign he has helped them to be able to get a proper education. He has also helped the southern states of america with issues such as poverty and homlessnes, due to the fact that in his campaign, He demanded a guaranteed annual income, full employment, anti-poverty programs, and housing for the poor. King also helped to bring the end of the Vietnam war. King proposed that the US stop bombing all of north and south Vietnam, and to declare a truce in the hope that it would lead to peace talks. He also asked for there to be a date for withdrawal of all troops from Vietnam. King helped african Americans have the right to vote in 1965. If the king did not make his move, we would not live in the same world we live in today. To summarise, because of these reasons, King has evidently had a very large Impact on modern day society.

King can inspire me in my life as he shows that even if you are alone, you can still achieve your dreams through hard work and just believing in yourself. I could start my own campaign about ending climate change, all because I was inspired by Martin Luther King. I could try out for Sydney FC, all because I was inspired by Martin Luther King because he shows us that all it takes is a bit of courage and an idea to achieve your biggest dreams in life. King has inspired me in my life as he does show me that all I need is courage to stand up , And I can achieve whatever I want, even if I come from nothing.

King was a very wise man, using his wisdom to motivate and inspire an entire nation. I think that King lives out the Knox value of wisdom when he makes the decision to stand up for the end of segregation. I think that this is wise as if he did not stand up for equality, we would not live in the same world we live in now. He used his wisdom for the greater good of the entire world. That is how King carries out the Knox value of wisdom.

I think that Martin Luther King lived out the Knox value of integrity when he literally gives his life for what he was fighting for. He didn't have to do what he did. Nobody told him to fight for the end of segregation. He himself chose to decide that enough was enough and that what was going wasn't right. That is how King carries out the Knox value of Integrity, with it being one of his greatest leadership qualities.

King lived out the Knox value of Faith through his involvement in the Black civil rights movement, which was closely related to his protestant faith. He also shows the Knox value of faith in believing in himself. He had to have faith in himself to make the civil rights movement otherwise he would not have trusted himself to success. That is how King showed the Knox value of faith.

One of Martin Luther King jr’s main qualities as a leader is compassion. I believe this as he saw others suffering and not being treated fairly, and decided that he was going to change for their greater good. But there is a difference in King's sense of compassion as instead of putting himself in the shoes of other Afro - Americans, He has always been one of them himself and I think that this actually gives him a greater understanding of how the others actually feel, thus strengthening his sense of compassion.

Martin Luther King lives out the Knox value of courage when he started the civil rights campaign. This is a pure example of courage as it would have taken King a lot of courage to stand up for what he believed in even though most people were against his decision as the Afro-Americans of the south were not favoured by the whites. That is how the King showed courage.
