The Biography Of Pierre Trudeau A Canadian Prime Minister
Pierre Trudeau was an extraordinary leader who was also a Canadian Prime Minister for 15 years in total, he was a politician for several years and has an impeccable educational background. Trudeau is the most excellent example, of an agent that has contributed significantly in Canadian social change. Trudeau created the Canadian Charter of Rights, which protects and educates civilians on their rights and allows them to gain a sense of knowledge on Canadian Law. He also introduced Bilingualism to Canada which has been an extraordinary change in education and the workplace, and is also an overall positive convenience for all Canadians.
Trudeau’s biggest accomplishment as an influential figure/politician, was placing the heavy importance on equality and righteous justice for all and embracement of multiculturalism. These advancements have all impacted Canadian society when they were enforced, and even now in present day. The Canadian Charter of Rights changed everything for not only the society of Canada but for humanity in general, civilians felt like their voices were heard. They felt important when they realized, Trudeau genuinely wanted to enforce change. (Foot, 2018, para. #11).
The Canadian Charter of Rights is much more than a bill, it was an absolute guarantee to all Canadian citizens that despite any inconvenience, they are safe and protected by the rights they are given. Means of social change were involved while the Charter was being established. Trudeau simply advocated, for those who did not have the political jurisdiction to speak for themselves. Trudeau realized that the foundation of a positively functioning society cannot be built unless, equitable humanity was promoted first. Trudeau’s political activism and determination is what lead to the success of the Charter. From 1982 when the Charter was invented, to Canadian society today the Charter has almost all positive opinions by civilians with little-to no criticism. Which clearly means that this has had a very favourable and supportive impact on society so far and is continuing to do so, being that the Charter is still an effective and well recognized bill in Canada.
Trudeau is the one who introduced the project of French being the 2nd official language in Canada, he created bilingualism for the country. Bilingualism is by far one of the most positive changes in Canadian society, it was such a brilliant idea that came to life. Bilingualism was enforced as a protection of linguistic rights for English and French speaking minorities in all Provinces and Territories in Canada. Everything in Canada that an individual can read, view, see, hear or participate in is offered in English and French, all is given and literally nothing is compromised. With bilingualism, Canadian education has been improved outstandingly, as students are now allowed to participate in an education that can be taught to them either in English or French. This exceptional opportunity is also incredibly beneficial while pursuing a career, considering that bilingual individuals are more eligible for certain job opportunities. This opens so many doors for students to study/work internationally, as bilingualism is always an asset.
Bilingualism also attracts many international individuals to take a specific interest in Canadian education and the Canadian workplace, as they also view it as an intelligent and unique opportunity. As in current state of affairs, Canada is still world renowned for the country’s bilingualism. It’s an excellent advantage that has innovated society exceptionally and continues to do so. Justin Trudeau has a lot in common with his father Pierre Trudeau, Justin is an intelligent politician like Pierre, and is an extraordinary Prime Minister as Pierre was as too. Although those are not their only similarities, both Trudeau men have shown on many numerous situations and opportunities that they are both very confident and genuine. Justin and Pierre both have extensive knowledge in politics and as PM’s have done quite exceptional for Canada, but besides that they both strive to support the changes in society. The confidence within the two comes from optimism, they are optimistic that the constant changes in society will be positive and benefit as new dynamics are introduced so frequently.
When bilingualism was first established by Pierre Trudeau, at the same time Trudeau also started recognizing and supporting multiculturalism. While Pierre Trudeau was in office, at that time multiculturalism was just starting to be recognized, which meant it wasn’t very diverse. However, Trudeau saw the upcoming of it and knew eventually that multiculturalism would only become more prominent and significant overtime. From when Pierre Trudeau was PM to now when Justin Trudeau is PM, society has transformed rapidly. Multiculturalism is more prominent now than it ever has been, Toronto is the most multicultural city in the world. Cultural diversity has progressed so much, Justin
Trudeau is very compassionate towards different cultures in Canada. Diversity at this point is only growing more society has adapted to this change, by being exposed to different cultures, being educated and taught about the different cultures. When Pierre Trudeau first established multiculturalism, that's when the acknowledgement began and from there it has only progressed. Now as Justin Trudeau continues his acknowledgement in cultural diversity while society changes and population fluctuates, it is certain that Pierre’s recognition is why multiculturalism even existed in the first place. Now Justin carries on his father's legacy, only with far more diversity and advancement. The future of Canada’s cultural diversity in society without the Trudeau’s, is unpredictable.
In conclusion Pierre Trudeau’s innovative ideas and changes, have miraculously benefited our current society exceptionally. Rules and laws that Trudeau implemented, while he was in office are still present and followed in our society today. Trudeau acknowledged the importance of the rights that are given to civilians. He recognized the importance of linguistics and established bilingualism, which has been such an asset to Canada. He also emphasized the importance of multiculturalism and cultural diversity, which has grown rapidly over the years.
