The Impact of Birth Order On Personality
Everybody in the world has a special and unique character. When they grow up, part of their character is influenced by their environment as well as the genetic component. Some studies found that birth-order tends to impact aspects of personality. Research into birth order focuses on four ordinary places of birth: first-born, middle, last, and only children.
In the beginning, the first-born child usually has the characteristics of becoming a leader. In all they do, they pursue high achievements. They are well treated and shows excellent etiquette. In family, they tend to be a teacher and their duty to teach or direct their siblings. They also can even attempt to be an authority figure to gain care over their siblings. Some first-born child will bring up and appropriately teach their siblings. First-born children have been found to possess the highest characteristics of leadership.
Second of all, the middle child has the qualities of being an attention addict. They feel lost in the middle, left behind. If the eldest is almost all-round, then the middle can excel at something the first-born is not good at. The role of goodwill ambassador is mostly played by the middle child, trying to mediate between older and younger siblings. This means that they have strong skills and get along with others. They often tend to be rebellious because they feel that their personal achievement is not as good as other siblings in the family. The middle does not get the appreciation they deserve from their parents for their achievements. Therefore, to gain any affection from their parents, the middle child may often act improperly.
Furthermore, the last born or baby has the characteristics of being self-centered and competitive. They tend to be outgoing, friendly, generous, and humorous. The last child is always be pampered by their parents. Usually, parents should not punish the last born, as they did for older children. Hence, they sometimes seem to be irresponsible and a breaker of rules.
Finally, the only boy would develop inclinations to be introverted because he had no siblings to socialize with. The only child may emerge extroverted while making friends in school and learning how to socialize with other children. Some only child, however, does not gain good social skills, leading to the child developing learning difficulties, developing good social skills, and engaging with others. While being an only child has its benefits, such as having all the love of both parents, high expectations from parents. Because of intimate relationships with family, they may be spoiled and self-absorbed. A more beneficial characteristic is that they are scientifically very mature.
To sum up, if younger siblings are present, the first-born will be responsible. The middle child will become rebellious if they are not interested in parents as they did others. Typically, the focus is shown to the younger kid or only child, which can contribute to optimism or be spoiled. In the changes and effects on the personality of an individual, the birth order plays a very important role.
