The Development And Future Technological Trends In The Hospitality Industry

Innovation in the hospitality industry is developing in several areas: the use of new resources; change in the organization of production and consumption (application of advanced principles of marketing and management); identification and use of new product markets, use of new equipment and technologies. It is the use of new technologies, which are today in computerization and globalization, that gives the greatest effect in the activities of enterprises of the hotel industry.

The main goal of hotel enterprises activities is to provide the highest quality services. Lots of people like to fantasize about how hotels will look in 5, 10 or 50 years. It is likely that hotel facilities may be located on Mars, be distinguished by augmented reality technology, artificial intelligence, beds that change shape, robotic personnel, voice control, and many others, which now seems completely incredible. Imagine a hotel where the rooms are being adapted on individuals needs and mood, and all that is needed to do is to press a few keys on the phone. Interactive panels and screens in the entire wall easily turn into windows, a giant TV, pillows can massage guest’s head and neck so that they fall asleep faster, and pajamas measure blood sugar in the morning and advise them what to eat for breakfast. The water in the shower is saturated with vitamin C, special lamps help to relieve or even get rid of jetlag easier and the air conditioning system saturates the air with pleasant aromatic additives of guest’s individual choice. A whole range of built-in and intuitive technologies will be at the disposal, and guests will easily make a hotel room as comfortable as their home.

By 2025, the travel industry will turn from a bold experiment into a mature tourism industry. Even though, flights to orbit will not be affordable for everyone, they will fall in price several times, and not only billionaires will be able to afford to look at the planet from space. It is unlikely that in 10 years orbital hotels will have time to emerge, but underwater hotels, which are just beginning to appear in some countries, will soon become commonplace and thousands of tourists will strive to spend a weekend in a room with a view not to a tropical forest or beach but with the view of the coral reef.

Experts of “Hotels. com” together with the famous futurist Dr. James Canton of the Institute for Global Futures made a forecast of how travel and hotel accommodation will change in a year, 25 years or in 2060. Famous futurist James Canton mentioned on his work that “New trends in technology, science, energy and the entertainment industry will change the experience of staying in hotels beyond recognition. Hotel reservations will be carried out using artificial intelligence - virtual assistants-bots that use the technology of searching for hidden patterns in data (data mining) and intuitive data processing (intuitive computing). These breakthrough technologies will allow travelers to offer the most personalized tourist product”. There raises a question: Which technological trends will be seen in the future hotels?

  1. RoboButlers – before the arrival of guests, these robots will be programmed with special skills, languages, as well abilities to make the guests stay unique and more comfortable.
  2. 3D Makers in every hotel room – Taking the luggage on a holiday? In the future there will be no need for that. 3D makers will be able to create things that the guest needs in a real time, such as a new pair of shoes, clothes, medicines, even computers and fully autonomous mobile headsets. As well 3D shopping will be available for the guests.
  3. Wellness and longevity hotel spas - New Spa centers will be based on DNA analysis and will be aimed at extending human life. Guests will be able to experience individual anti-aging procedures aimed at promoting health and preventing possible risks in the future. Such SPAs will use the latest achievements in genetics, treatments to improve brain function and prevent disease.
  4. Airport transfer in the future - Airport transfers will become more high-tech and will include autonomous cars and capsules that will help avoid traffic as well as supersonic vacuum trains that can travel hundreds of kilometers in seconds.
  5. Gourmet genomics in hotel restaurants - In restaurants at the hotels they will prepare food, based on the individual preferences of each guest. This will be possible through DNA analysis. Even before arriving at the hotel, a personalized, healthy menu will be drawn up based on the test results. This menu, which contains all the necessary nutrients for the guests, will consist of exquisite gourmet dishes prepared by the best chefs. But this does not mean that the guests will be able to eat only certain dishes - they will be able to order anything. At the same time, all ordered food will be more useful, and guests will not have to worry that they can gain extra weight or food will have a bad effect on their stomach - everything will be personalized depending on the organism of a particular guest.
  6. Neuro-Dreaming - A bed in a hotel will not be just a place to relax. Guests will be able to choose dreams before going to bed. For example, guests can choose to improve their skills in a dream, exploring space, a romantic adventure or another type of entertainment.
  7. Eco Hotels - Many hotels are already paying attention to energy saving and environmental safety, in the future all hotels will be completely autonomous and environmentally friendly. They will have a high level of energy saving, buy and sell energy from the global Renewable Energy Source, use only clean and safe products, use solar and geothermal energy technologies and can boast a zero balance of carbon dioxide emissions.

Above mentioned future technological trends will have a big impact on a human life. All these upcoming trends in a hospitality industry will be more easily achievable, as well programmed and environmentally friendly. But this all does not end here. Nasa came up with the idea that will be used by the tourists traveling to Mars. Project named “Marina” which will be constructed as a hotel will be finished by 2025 in Earth orbit. The hotel will provide travel services that tourists enjoy on Earth. Regarding to the cost of staying in Earth orbit, the lodger for 14 days in a space hotel will have to pay 5 million dollars. Hotel will offer plenty of different amenities such as, bars, restaurants, fitness center which will be fun to visit in a weightless environment, as well individualized services will be available for the guests.
