The Famous People Who Found Their Desires
Don’t try to keep those desires hidden. It’s always better to know what your desires are. Knowing is better than not knowing at all. Trying is better than not trying at all. Why should you not determine your desires?
As Vincent Van Gogh quoted “What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?” Would he be the famous painter we all knew if he had not determine his desire? The Starry Night painter was unhappy with his life especially when he was a kid. He had to work for his uncle at a young age and he worked there for a long time. He became depressed; so with a brave heart, he left and sought shelter in a church. It helped him get back to his feet. He had started to live a fulfilling life preaching to the poor. With the diverse stories of hardships he had heard, he also then began painting. However, the church found fault in his service and dismissed him from his post.
Van Gogh was never serious with art but the challenge pushed him to learn. It became his second road to recovery. He drew Café Terrace at Night and Vase with 12 Sunflowers. He fostered a quick, rapid style. He drew with swift movements. He felt an overwhelming need and desire to paint. “The work is an absolute necessity for me. I can’t put it off, I don’t care for anything but the work; that is say, the pleasure in something else ceases at once and I become melancholy when I can’t go on with work. Then I feel like a weaver who sees that his threads are tangled, and the pattern he had on the loom is gone to hell, and all his thought and exertion is lost. ” Religion and Art were his determined desires and he did what he could to be part of both. Though dismissed from church, he still portrayed his faith in religion and expressed his loved for the people he had served.
Unlike the famous Dutch artist who found his desires during unexpected encounters, Britney Spears found hers at a young age. She was extremely interested in performing arts. Following what her young mind kept on urging her to do; Britney lined-up in several auditions and joined countless competitions. She was 8-year-old when she auditioned in Disney Channel’s The All-New Mickey Mouse but did not get the spot. Even so, she did not give up and joined a star search competition. She did everything she could to achieve her dream until it happened. Then, became a pop idol releasing hit songs: Baby One More Time, Oops I Did It Again, Sometimes, Lucky and many other popular titles. She knew what she wanted and she became what she had been aspiring to be. That is because, she tried and she had never given up. “For me success is a state of mind. I feel like success isn’t about conquering something; it’s being happy with who we are. ” – Britney Spears.
Many others realized their dreams at young age and pursued it such as skating legend Yuzuru Hanyu who knew his dream at age four and Microsoft founder Bill Gates who discovered his interest in computers at age 13. Most of the time, we do ourselves a favor when we attempt our desires. Then, along the way, it touches the hearts of many others.
One person greatly known for his desire for the greater change is Martin Luther King. In his most popular speech, he talked about his dreams for people. It was a dream involving his family, the slaves and the slave-owners, the black and white people and many others. I say, to you today, my friends, though, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up, live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. ” I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia sons of former slaves and former slave-owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state of sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream… I have a dream that one day in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having its lips dripping with words of interposition and nullification, one day right here in Alabama little black boys and little black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and little white girls as sisters and brother. ”
You may not know this but you can inspire others when you start to act. You might not end up influencing thousands of people but only a few dozen. Even so, you can inspire people when working towards a goal.
