The Great Kingdom Of Assyria

For more than a thousand years the location of Karkemish was forgotten. It was known only as lying “on the Euphrates, ” according to the biblical passage about the battle of 605 b. c. e. that pitted the waning Assyrian army and its Egyptian allies against the victorious Babylonians led by the young Nebuchadnezzar II. Then in 1876, the famous British Assyriologist George Smith, on his way to Nineveh, identified the imposing mound lying north of the village of Jerablus with ancient Karkemish (“Quay of [the god] Kamis”). Since that time Karkemish had been a dream site for generations of its modern history epitomizing the vicissitudes of Near Eastern politics. It was a long time in the year 1874 before becoming an army within the kingdom of the Great King, Shalmaneser in the kingdom of Assyria, it was always a dream to becoming a member of the army within the kingdom. It was before the time for new recruits in the so 1870s, by this time they used to train hard. This kingdom was loved by the neighbors around and the Great King, Shalmaneser made sure that the surroundings were in peace and lived peacefully, this gave him sympathy and comfort among everyone and none dared to defy him. With this, it gave me a better chance to win and accept the will to become an army within the soldiers of the great king. The new recruits would, be moved to a camping site where they could further train for a better defensive tactics for the kingdom. The good side of it all was that, this kingdom offered better fighting and tackling techniques that were rare and unique to other kingdom, with every training in the day, it made sure I mastered most tactics.

By 1879, the training was over and we had to be assigned to the necessary post per the recruits, I was assigned as a keeper by the main treasury I loved and admired doing the work. I stayed at this post for a year before I joined the other armies of war after for the kingdom had a terrible attack from rebellious fools in Karkemish in 1891 that dared to defy the Great King, Shalmaneser ruling despising need for the grumble of his possessions. This was the time when I was appointed Erishum, chief general of the Great King, Shalmaneser and was sent to deal with them. I had to formulate a scribe for the attack since the Karkemish was so big and they had a good number of fighters though they couldn’t be compared with the training my men had. It took most of my men life lose in battles but without any doubt they knew they were to be ready for anything for the better of the kingdom. Nevertheless, not only did I lose most men, the Karkemish lost almost have of their soldiers while they tried to attack without a plan and better weapons. This gave me more energy as the chief general to push further to victory of team. It took a year before we brought down these fools under the command of the Great King Shalmaneser, though despite bringing the end of this reign, there was great loss to both the affected, loss of houses, food, some of the women and children lost lives within the grabble.

Moreover, the border between Turkey and Syria was then established along the railway, built a decade earlier by the Germans, that crossed the outer town of KarkemishUpon my return 1892 as a Chief Scribe I was supposed to prepare a report of the siege in detail, on how I went about it from the moment of first summoning those wretched people to obey their rightful King to the end of the siege and my leaving behind on pointed stakes a gentle warning to others who might think to rebel that there is only one Great King and he is to be submitted to. My scribe comprised of a detailed plan that went further to the leaders of Karkemish. This was about how if they continued with the resistance they could face terrible challenge of losing their lands, their lives and even their children being sent for battle, but despite this they were to benefit within the kingdom, may it be in trade, school, farming activities, sport activities and so on, with some of this, it made them surrender to the Great Kingdom.

The Karkemish, further details within the Chief Scribe stated that, the entire region was to benefit in training its army, at least they could be part of the Assyrian Army. The message was to be conveyed across the other regions so that, if they happened to attack, they could know the consequences that could befall on them and face them for worst or for best. The King was excited with my scribe and entrusted me on the whole of his army for leadership for a very long time thereafter.
