The Gun Needs a Holster
A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed --Bill of Right
On August 3, It is a sadness day of the U.S , an adult man armed with an ak-47 rifle fired indiscriminately at more than 3,000 customers and 100 employees at a walmart store in ELPaso, Texas, without warning. Twenty people were killed and 26 injured. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, President Donald trump tweeted his attitude and 'blessings' to the victims: Terrible shootings in ELPaso, Texas. Reports are very bad, many killed. Working with State and Local authorities, and Law Enforcement. Spoke to Governor to pledge total support of Federal Government. God be with you all! After the blessing few hours later, In Dayton, Ohio the gunshot happen again. And there are many shooting accident I don’t want to mention. I just want to ask a question here: How many life do we need to pay for the gun’s totally be prohibited.
Gun control law is no a new idea for a long time ago. In 1934, at the urging of the Roosevelt administration Congress passed the first national gun act .But under pressure from the national rifle association, some of the provisions were dropped. The most substantive act was forced back to the 1860s. Political star President Kennedy and civil rights leader Martin Luther King were shot dead, gun control has a broad base of public opinion. In 1963, a bill introduced by senator DODD to clamp down on the sale of handguns was attacked by the national rifle association and congress was forced to shelve it. In 1965, just as congress was beginning to consider an amendment to gun control, the NRA sent a letter to its 700,000 members to send them to congress. In 1968, the United States senate and house after heated discussion, finally passed the gun control, prohibit interstate buying guns, including minors, drug addicts, the mental patient, criminals and other 8 groups to buy guns, the age of the legal gun ownership increased to 21 years old, and further perfect the issue licences to weapons dealer program. The law was the most substantive gun control law in the country at the time, and one of the most controversial in years, drawing a furious response from the national rifle association. The following year, the group lobbied congress to repeal some of the rules.
The United States has not passed a national gun control bill for nearly two decades. In 1980, Ronald Reagan was elected President with the endorsement of the national rifle association, and gun control began to be relaxed again. In 1986, congress passed the weapon owners protection act, even for 1968 'gun control' a lot of changes, not only eased restrictions on gun sellers and buyers, also requires the alcohol, tobacco and firearms administration does not affect the gunman normal life as far as possible, will be a year of guns to examine limited to once a year After that the gun control law had become standstill and had become a tool which can help people live in the White house. In 1994, President Bill Clinton passed legislation to limit the proliferation and use of guns in the United States, also known as the 'assault weapons ban,' which bans the use of 19 assault weapons, including ak-47 and AR15.But the law is only valid for 10 years.Ten years later, the ban lapsed, and instead of extending it, President George w. bush passed the legal firearms act. I just can’t imagine why that position are so attractive that someone can abandon their conscience.
The sentence I put on the headline it is the article 2 of Bill of Right, which the opposition often use to defend their opinion, means people can keep and bear arms to protect the security of a free state or themself. As the tragic that had happened before. I really don’t think it can still be use to cover their mistake. I think the start of that article is to make the gun become a shield to protect ourself not as a sword. And I can surely say this article is out of date. This article was put forward in August 21st,1789. In 230 years things would change. At that time I think the most powerful gun is fusil but nowadays ak-47,even a pistol are more lethal than that time. So it means time is changing so are we. The law is unsuitable for now.
Indeed keeping gun can make you feel safe in some cases. Here is an interesting question. The reason of Bill of Right allow us to keep a gun is to keep our own safe, so when you have a pistol, compare with the people hold nothing you feel safe. But what if they holding an ak? What if they holding a 12.7*99mm caliber barrett spying you in the 400m away? What can make you feel safe? A tank? What about an atomic bomb? So you see this rule obviously is a funny joke. Only when we put down their arms can we feel the real safe and free.
No matter how hard I try. One thing I can deny is arms is protecting our country. Maybe James Madison want us can protect ourself like the way we protect our nation. After so many years so many tragics. Obviously is a dead end. Now the gun had hurt enough people. It is the time for us to put it into the holster.
