INTRODUCTION OF COMPANY

The company was set up in 1945 as Mahindra and Mohammed. Later the name was changed to Mahindra and Mahindra. The origins of Mahindra group can be traced back to October 2nd 1945, when Mahindra brothers J.C Mahindra & K.C Mahindra joined hands with Ghulam Mohammad and Mahindra and Mohammad was set up as a franchise for assembling jeeps from Willys, USA. After India’s independence in 1947, Mahindra and Mohammed changed its name to Mahindra and Mahindra. Ghulam Mohammed migrated to Pakistan post partition.

Today Mahindra is one of the largest vehicle manufacturers by production in India and the largest manufacturer of tractors in the world. Over the past few years, the company has taken interest in new industries and in foreign markets. They entered the two-wheeler industry by taking over Kinetic Motors in India. M&M also has a controlling stake in the REVA Electric Car Company and acquired South Korea's SsangYong Motor Company in 2011. In 2010–11 M&M entered in micro drip irrigation with the takeover of EPC Industries Ltd in Nashik.

In October 2014, Mahindra and Mahindra acquired a 51% controlling stake in Peugeot Motorcycles. In December 2015, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd and affiliate Tech Mahindra Ltd, through a special purpose vehicle (SPV), have agreed to buy a 76.06% stake in Italian car designer Pininfarina Spa, for €25.3 million (around Rs.186.7 crore). In January 2017, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (M&M) acquired a 75.1 equity stake in Hisarlar Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi (Hisarlar), a farm equipment company, marking its entry into Turkey. In September 2017 Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd acquired Erkunt Tractors Sanayii AS, a Turkish tractor maker and its foundry business for 800 crore.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

A US$6.7 billion conglomerate that has a strong presence in virtually every sector its present in, across the globe. The Mahindra group is a leader in such diverse business as automobiles, engines, information technology, holidays, rural finance, engineering and stamping and steel too, It’s a journey that began with making general purpose utility vehicles in 1945 and has been driven by its motivation to excel over since.

RECRUITMENT

Recruitment (hiring) refers to the overall process of attracting, shortlisting, selecting and appointing suitable candidates for jobs (either permanent or temporary) within an organization. Recruitment can also refer to processes involved in choosing individuals for unpaid roles. Managers, human resource generalists and recruitment specialists may be tasked with carrying out recruitment, but in some cases public-sector employment agencies, commercial recruitment agencies, or specialist search consultancies are used to undertake parts of the process. Internet-based technologies to support all aspects of recruitment have become widespread.

SOURCING

Sourcing is the use of one or more strategies to attract or identify candidates to fill job vacancies. It may involve internal and/or external recruitment advertising, using appropriate media, such as job portals, local or national newspapers, social media (such as LinkedIn or RiteSite), business media, specialist recruitment media, professional publications, window advertisements, job centers, or in a variety of ways via the internet. Alternatively, employers may use recruitment consultancies or agencies to find otherwise scarce candidates—who, in many cases, may be content in the current positions and are not actively looking to move. This initial research for candidates—also called name generation—produces contact information for potential candidates, whom the recruiter can then discreetly contact and screen.

SELECTION

The Selection is a process of picking the right candidate with prerequisite qualifications and capabilities to fill the jobs in the organization. The selection process is quite lengthy and complex as it involves a series of steps before making the final selection. The procedure of selection may vary from industry to industry, company to company and even from department to department. Every organization designs its selection process, keeping in mind the urgency of hiring people and the prerequisites for the job vacancy.

ROLES AND DUTIES OF HUMAN RESOURCE

Employment and placement managers supervise the hiring and separation of employees. They also supervise employment, recruitment and placement specialists, including recruitment specialists and employment interviews, Recruiters maintain contacts within the community and may travel considerably to college campuses to search for promising job applicants. Recruiters screen, interview and occasionally test applicants. They also may check references and extend job offers.
