The Importance of Literacy: Narrative About My Life
To start with, this is literacy narrative essay on my academic path and experience. Here I will sexplein why I believe that eduaction plays a crucial role in life as well as literacy that goes hand in hand with education.
High School and College is a very important part of my life. In order to acquire a satisfying education, I should complete my high school prior to college. College and high school have two very different experience, but both are trying to improve my knowledge. As I graduated high school, after that I have college to finish my education. There are many similarities and differences between the two. Some obvious similarities are that both have assignments, classrooms, and students. Although college and high school have many differences three of the main ones are the teachers, classes, and responsibilities. In my early education, my literacy classes always had inspired me. Learning to read was easy for me because of the quality of teaching I had over me as well as a lot of help from home with my parents and older cousins. The overall support provided a base for me to first learn the basics of reading and writing the language, and since that support made my learning easier, I had the time to enjoy reading and writing beyond the lessons from class that were put in front of me. From early on, reading was a hobby. The more books read, the better. I wasn’t the fastest reader, and I am still not. But I liked to read lot of books.
Period When My Passion for Books and Poetry Was Flourishing
Middle school was one of the best times of my life. When I was in 8th grade in the time of spring I was first introduced to poetry and having the “character and scene” poems where hard to understand. I was not familiar with poetry before, I used to hate writing and reading poems. But the class was fun and interesting, there was this time in the class we had to write a poem with our own ideas and then we should narrate in front of the whole class. It was a new experience, then is when I realized it was unique and fun. This made me to write personal diary, I stared to write down about my dreams, thoughts and the world
One of the best moments I have experienced in schools was on the time of science fair, I had to give a five to ten-minute presentation in physics about thermodynamic. I felt very confident, as I was so passion about the topic. I was presenting my audience and kept them engaged. By the end of the presentation I was so relived. The next day our project got second prize. What I learned from the whole project was how I could work with my team and present it the fair. It gave me more confidence for my high school.
The first day of my Freshman high school English, I entered the classroom with an extremely self-assured, even intermediate, sort of feeling. Every year, English has been my one of the most challenging class, I had to work hard for every grade I earned in that class, every time I complete an assignment, I procrastinated and eventually end up writing ten page essays the night before or the day of and still would get an average grade on the assignment.
In my sophomore year I started reading more and more books. Such as, “The Great Gatsby,” “wrinkle in time,” and “Of mice and men”. I may not have loved all of them, but at least I felt like I earned the grade I received through hard work. From that point on, I started to read and most importantly, began to feel more confident. With every page I read, I would clinch my dictionary, I would sit there reading and searching for a new word that I could add to knowledge. As I progress throughout my senior year in high school, I will always remember the strategies I have learned and taken from previous years. Reading and Writing may not be my best subjects, but so far, they have been my best improvements.
Final Thoughts
I believe, reading and writing is one of the most important aspects of education. It is the foundation for all other knowledge. To me, the first step to a successful education and life is learning to read. After that goal is accomplished, finding a way to really enjoy reading is another important factor in literacy. I believe that when someone learns to enjoy reading, they will find it easier to enjoy learning in general. Writing helps me to express emotions, organize my personal thoughts, and literacy. It also helped to understand the
