The Importance Of Self-Confidence To Be Successful
There will always be obstacles in life that will get in your way no matter who you are. Some can easily get over these obstacles but there are others that can’t do it alone. No matter what, we must always be confident about ourselves. Sadly, people who lack to be self-confident can find it difficult to be successful.
During my younger years in middle school, I wasn’t the best student out of the bunch. I had a hard time focusing in class, life at home wasn’t helping, and I just didn’t have the materials required for daily instruction. This can vary from a binder to materials needed for school projects. Truth is, one of my parents was never truly there for me. My grades poorly reflected on all this. I couldn’t catch up with the rest of the students. Obviously, my father was really disappointed. I wasn’t at fault here, he’s the one that would distance himself when it comes to my education. There was no way that I would be able to convince him to buy me the things I needed to succeed. Eventually, he put the blame on me for failing my classes. It was my fault because I didn’t try hard enough. It was my fault for being too distracted. It was my fault for being too dependent on him. I fed into it, I accepted what he told me. I had lost all confidence in my future. I started believing that it would be like this for all my years in school.
It was now my freshman year in high school. I saw this as the perfect opportunity to start over. This was the chance to not be as dependent on my parents as I used to before. Freshman, sophomore, and junior year went by. My grades weren’t the best but it was something that I can be proud of. I was ready for my senior year. I’d be able to graduate high school regardless of my dad doubting me. I was confident and determined to go to college. I would be able to prove to him that he was wrong. Many people lack self-confidence, it is needed to have a healthy life. Self-confidence is a feeling of trust in one’s abilities and judgment. This must be present in people’s daily lives in order for them to believe that they can do anything. At this point in my life, I am obtaining the confidence that I need to be ready for college. The best way to gain self-confidence is to look inside of yourself and believe that you have the ability to overcome all barriers and difficulties that you are faced with.
Self-confidence is something that cannot be taught. It is up to the person to decide how much belief that they possess inside of themselves. Nobody teaches us to be happy or sad. They are natural feelings that come along as we develop physically, psychologically, mentally, and emotionally. I am at the point where I understand that I must first believe in myself before others will believe in me. When you get to the point where you allow others to speak about how you feel about life, you have to stop and take an internal examination. Ask yourself if your lack of self-confidence is holding you behind from being the best that you can possibly be. You have to be willing to take charge of your life and whatever is holding you back. Most often these emotions come from people allowing the negativity of other people to defeat them. It is time for me to take a stand and be in control of my own future.
