The Importance of the Art of Warfare For US Safety

Today I will be talking about my conviction on the topic of the art of warfare and how it’s necessary for the safety and security of the homeland. Ever since 1775, which was the start of the American Revolutionary War to present we have always fought for freedom and security of the United States. In 1775, the colonies, which were thirteen states that made up the United States at the time were occupied by the British Empire, After many years of British occupation and mistreatment of the colonist, the states formed a coalition to repel the British occupation and to fight for their independence and freedom. Another example would be the Civil War that divided the United States Into two factions… The Confederacy of independent states, which was made up of southern states and the Union which was made northern states, both sides believe they were fighting for the freedom of their very different beliefs of lifestyle and freedom.

Many wars will follow that always have the same goal of freedom, safety, stability, and protection. I personally believe that freedom and safety come at a cost of war. For example, World War 2 was a point in history were we as a nation did not want to get involved in a war that did not need involvement that was across the Atlantic, But we as a nation realized after the attack on Pearl Harbor if we did not mobilize our armed forces for combat the Axis powers will slowly begin to overtake the world as a whole. Therefore, threatening the freedom and security of the United States.

Wars are also fought for reasons of principle, ideology, geopolitics. Essential wars that are not directly threatening our freedom, but may give us an advantage geographically, politically, power wise, and control of regions to spread our influence. For instance, I personally believe we went to war in places like Vietnam and Iran to install a democratic government to expand our geopolitical ideology to foreign nations to have a stronger grip through those specific regions for there resources and position in the world to therefore have a stronger presence in the world as a global superpower. I believe to gain power, influence, freedom and safety war is necessary to obtain those objectives. Without wars, I can only imagine where we will be on the power scale of freedom and stability. We are only free because we fought for our freedom and rights through centuries of warfare being on the defensive and offensive fronts. War unifies the country for victory to prevail and freedom to shine through the darkness of oppression. War brings about destruction, unlike anything we have seen before.

War brings pain and suffering to us and it leads to loss. But, war also brings improvement and acts as an economic catalyst. War increases domestic manufacturing and has proven to be a catalyst for some great inventions. Nuclear power wouldn't have been discovered as early as it had without war. It pushes humanity to create. It also teaches us great lessons about morality and humanity as a whole.
