The Influence Of Family, Peer Relationships And Workplace On Our Socialization
Families: We learn a lot of things from our family like values and culture. They influence our behavior, religion, and etc. Since we are around our family a lot we learn basic skills from them. Also, they show us how to act and think depending on our gender. For example, I grew up in a Hispanic middle-class family, two parent household, and only child. My parents were a major influence on me as a child when it comes to socializing. My socialization is unique in this area because when I talk to my family I am very direct on how I ask and say things. I am different from others because of this socialization when speaking to others I am very positive, a good listener, and I try to give good advice when someone needs it. Schools: We become social at school since we are there for so many years. School is mainly about being social for example group projects and teamwork. We interact with many people like our friends and teachers. Not only do they teach us different subjects but they also teach us skills that we will later us in society. We learn to take t
urns and rules of games. My socialization is unique in this area because I try really hard every day to socialize and break out of my sell since I’m so shy. I am different from others because of this socialization because I am a quiet and shy person I don’t open up too many people for many it’s a lot easier to be social.
Peer Relationships: From when we first go to school we interact with other kids. We learn and influence form each other’s attitudes and behaviors. I feel like we don’t really notice when we are younger how our peers influence us. As we get older we socialize more with our peers and our behaviors start to change. An example is peer pressure we all want to fit in and we sometimes get pressured into doing things. My socialization is unique in this area because when I talk to two of my close high school friends we talk about positive things, give advice, pray for each other, we support and encourage each other. I am different from others because of this socialization when speaking to others I feel like my advice and way of thinking about things is more mature. The Mass Media: Now in days everyone is influenced by social media, television, movie, and music. It influences social norms. They tend to show how society expects you to look or act. I don’t think my socialization is unique is this are. Also, I don’t feel like I am different from others because of this socialization.
Workplace: Every job requires a different type of socialization. You meet different people of different backgrounds and age groups. We learn to do different tasks and how our attitudes should be depending of the job. I feel like I cannot relate to this agent of socialization because I have never had a job.
