The movie “Why Can't a Woman Succeed like a Man?” is a BBC production manuscript which has vividly highlighted some of the issues that limit women from prospering in life as men do. The film has used several female characters who accomplish various careers to convince women that they can also thrive in life. Also, the script has tried to ascertain whether the working female can succeed in their careers and also in family matters. Hence, the concept of gender inequity is developed since most women are required to raise their families and at the same time compete in the same careers with men.

The documentary about the success of women has come at the right moment when there are more debates on issues of gender parity and feminism across the globe. Chiefly, men dominate significant and profitable fields in the global community. The trend has created high levels of female discrimination and chauvinism. The movie is evident as it depicts that working women earn about 69 thousand pounds less than men who are pursuing similar fields. Does the analysis seem like an irony when men make exorbitant amounts than women in the same career? However, the film shows that divided attention on family and career by women is the primary cause of this vast difference in female success. In most cases, female employees are needed to work and also cater for their families. Such practices have significantly limited their success rates.

Also, the filmmaker has shown that women do not succeed like men because men usually occupy the most lucrative jobs. The film has stated that 'Men are defending their jobs in a traditional way' to reveal that high levels of gender segregation is still a problem. Examples of careers which the movie pinpoints to be dominated by male include medical fields, security profession, and journalism. For this reason, the video brings out thoughts of Professor Ryan from Exeter University who talks about the need to have 'gender parity' in society. The argument of Professor Ryan is somewhat convincing as women have started competing with men in several competitive fields like journalism. Moreover, women are highly segregated since America has only 20% of female politicians. Also, the movie provides that in about 100 commercial firms in the US, 20 companies have shown open discrimination on women while the remaining firms have many male workers occupying top ranking positions. Thus, the principal matter is whether, virtually, female can, should, or (and) should wish to “have it all” by engaging in their professions and also look after their households.

The film has a close relationship with the material that has been covered in class such as stratification of class-poverty, wealth, and massive growing inequality. In social stratification, people are categorized based on their wealth and status, such as leadership roles. Similar insights are found in the film, as men dominate many companies. Furthermore, income attainment is the ability to accrue money from a particular career. The notion is related to the movie as the filmmaker states that women are disadvantaged since they earn nearly 69 thousand pounds less than their male counterparts in their lifetime career.

Gender is the ability to distinguish between a man and a woman. The class discussion on gender is also a predominant topic in the movie as men are seen occupying are viewed as “leaders and managers” as compared to women. Also, the notion of ethnicity was analyzed in class and also discussed in the film. It is also apparent that women, especially from different backgrounds, are discriminated in various professionals. The movie shows high rates of segregation in private enterprises due to the autonomy of employers.

In conclusion, the film is superb! It has disclosed the need to practice equity to all genders across the world. I enjoyed the film when it insists on the fact that the world is transforming, and women needs to stand up and protect their rights. The idea is appropriate especially to the male-dominated community as it will incite females to speak out and also work hard to attain their life goals. The point which I heartily concur with the filmmaker is that women are not as successful as men because they have been left with the role of caring for families. I have learned that women can choose to do what they love like nursing, as the movie portrays. The fact that some entrepreneurial firms discriminate women was new to me since I formerly believed that the world had transformed positively. Hence, I gained personal insights that which states taht change begins with an individual.
