The Medical Study – An Important Stage In Achieving My Dream To Become A Doctor
It has come to my realization that this text is the most important piece of writing that I will come to create, and I find it both exciting and intimidating that it will have every influence on whether or not I will achieve my dream of becoming a doctor. The human biology is something that has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. I always find myself asking “How does the human body function?”, “For what reason do people get sick?” and “How can we heal the illnesses?”. Due to my concern for others well-being I have made a devotion to help others in any way possible as a purpose in my life. To add on my long-time fascination with human biology I have concluded that medical school is what I desire.
As far as it comes to relevant experiences I have quite a few. In the past 4 years I have been actively participating in a free health care clinic called “I care”. My young age limited how I could actually give help, something I hated at first but now am forever grateful for at least the opportunity. In my early years I learned that taking care of the patient is not only about giving the right medical treatments, but also about making sure the patient has the right peace of mind. Knowing you are sick and possibly can get worse is alarming for most people. This is why health care workers needs to calm down the patient and make sure he or she knows everything is going to be alright. Ask about positives things happening in that person’s life, ask about the persons goals, take an interest into the person’s life. In this way the patient will feel safe and cared for in the best way possible. Therefore, communication is key. In the clinic I was allowed to observe and follow the nurses and doctors work. I even once was allowed to witness an operation in the hospital nearby. Something that was an eye opener for me. Questions were asked, and questions were answered which enhanced my knowledge in this profession. As an observer I realized how many workers including myself became generally stressed because of this hectic profession. This is where my other interests and hobbies have helped me massively.
Although it much looks it, taking care of people is not my only passion. Dancing for instance has a large impact on my life and releases every ounce of stress I hold within me. I have danced since I was four years old and it means much more to me than just moving your body according to the music. It is a complex art that allows to express the overwhelms of my feelings and say things that no existing word could ever say. The reason why am not pursing dancing as a career is because I dance for myself and nobody else. The thought of sharing my vulnerable emotions is scary enough which is why a small group of people in the studio is just fine. Not to forget my other interests; knitting, hiking, watching tv series, reading, cooking and the list goes on. I try to enjoy everything I can do in this world as much as I can. Jogging for instance was never on my “I like to do list” until I decided to find a way to make it fun in the best way I know possible; competing with myself. I made a goal to run four miles during the “run for cancer campaign” in my capital. With a determined mind I trained every other day, and it worked. I reached my four-mile goal, raised money for charity and lost some extra weight. Ever since I have loved jogging.
Down to everything all I want is to help the people who can’t help themselves. The medical study is the way I see my dream of becoming a doctor will become success if accepted into this collage.
