The Problem Of The Usage Of Natural Resources In India
Since the time we started studying economics as our subject we have been taught that our country has limited resources with alternate uses. We never actually understood how serious and harmful this problem actually is. If this situation is not tackled the future generations will be surviving and left with the situation of non availability of resources. Everyday we hear about the issues regarding various resources like petroleum resources, water resources, air quality, minerals, etc. The usage of natural resources can be controlled by appointing correct measures and analysis of the situation should be made to get into the root cause of the problem.
The quality of air in New Delhi is getting poor day by day as dust is arriving from Rajasthan and neighbouring areas of Pakistan. This is happening because mercury is soaring in Rajasthan and Pakistan. The CM of Delhi Mr.Arvind Kejriwal has introduced system of odd even movement of vehicles to reduce the impact of the situation and masks are also distributed to save the people from its harmful impacts. The consumption of fossil fuels, biomass, metal and non-metal ores has increased by over 6 percent in the past 45 years.
The neglect on the part of government and non stop and wasteful usage of resources by people have left the water bodies of Tamil Nadu shrunk and people are paying with their lives to protect the natural resources. In case of fuel as well the usage of petroleum resources is increasing day by day and the resources are much less than their actual use and this results in increase in import of petroleum resources from other countries which is not a good situation. Efforts are being made to reduce the imports by converting the agriculture and municipal waste into fuels and promoting the use of biofuels and by raising use of domestic crude oil.
Another major issue faced in the context of resources is continuous process of illegal mining of natural resources. Natural resources are extracted from rivers - Ravi, Beas, Swan in an unscientific manner. It is very important to have proper measures in place and awareness among people to control the continuous exploitation of scarce resources.
Government is making continuous efforts to control the situation but looking at the adversity of the issues it is very important that people and government unite and then tackle this situation substantially so that our future generations also have resources for their survival.
