The Reasons of Treaty of Versailles to Become a Cause of WWII
Throughout the years there have been many different people from all around the world that have tried to come up with different theories and different actions in history that could have cause help the outbreak of WWII. Out of all the many different assumptions, it has been proven that the Treaty of Versailles was most definitely one of the main causes of WWII. So as a summery the Treaty of Versailles was a peace document that was originally signed by all the allies and the associated powers involved, by Germany at the end of WWI in the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles.
It was so significant that the Treaty of Versailles was signed because it was said that it was to determine the outcome and the consequences Germany should deal with, this leads into having caused WWII as Germany was to take full blame for the war, this made all the politicians and public extremely angry. The treaty of Versailles was originally signed on the 28th of June but only officially took effect on the 10th of January 1920.
One of the reasons the Treaty of Versailles was a main cause of WWII was because, Germany was blamed for a lot of WWI. One thing that they had to do was they had to pay 6.6 billion pounds which translates to an average of 12 billion Australian dollars. And all this money had to come out of the tax payers, and the tax payers are the general public, by Germany having to pay out this much money in a small period of time lead to the government printing out more money, this was only the start of the downfall as, as soon as a country starts printing more money out, it quickly starts losing its value. They ended printing so much money they didn’t know what to do with it, kids started playing with it in the streets, families started using the notes as wallpaper, and even pillow stuffers.
So as of this point Germany owed so much money and the value of their currency had gone down dramatically, they had no idea how to pay it back, so this is what lead to the causing of the great depression, the great depression was spread all around the globe, but it especially hit Germany hard, the unemployment rate in Germany went up as high as 33%, this is on average around 1.5 million Germans that were put out of work and within a year this figure had more than doubled. So this has defiantly proved that Germany was going through a very tough time and needed a real leader to step in, this was when Hitler stepped up and started saying thing that sounded nice in the ears of families and individuals that were going homeless or losing their businesses, he was saying stuff like ‘we will make Germany great again’, which at this time the public would do anything to save themselves and their loved ones and homes.
Another very big contributor to WWII was, Hitler’s rise to power. Hitler’s rise to power was also caused by the great depression, as previously said, the Germans were going through such a tough time they were prepared to do anything, at this time many families and individuals were going out of business and many were ending up on the streets.
