The Revolutionary War And Its Role In American History
Think of what America is today versus what it was back before 1775 when brave Americans fought back against the British. The Revolutionary War made what the country is today. The Revolutionary War was the most important war ever in American history because it gave America freedom, led to the founding of our country, and unified the people.
The Revolutionary War was the biggest war ever in American history without the war America is not America it gave us our freedom. Leading up to the war, for more than a decade before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War in 1775, tensions had been building between colonists and the British authorities. The Stamp Act was a big role in the American Revolution by putting high taxes on things like paper, newspapers, and government documents. The second main reason was because of the Boston Massacre and how British soldiers left five colonists dead on the streets. The Boston Tea Party was a political protest that occurred on December 16,1773 at Boston Harbor. American colonists dumped 342 crates of tea imported by the British East India company into the Boston Harbor. It showed Great Britain that they would not pay the taxes. That was the final straw before the war. The night of April 17th 1775 is when the 13 colonies started fighting for America's freedom.
The first major conflict to happen in the Revolutionary War was, with the famous Paul Revere ride was on April 18, 1775 the British army was stationed in Boston. Rumour had it that they were about to make a move on the leaders. The sons of Liberty were watching the British really closely so they could warn the colonists if they started to attack. The second major conflict to happen would be the Battle of Lexington on April 19, 1775 that date would go down in history. Not only did America win that battle, the brave American soldiers fought and made the British retreat. The third major conflict was the Battle of Bunker hill on july 16, 1775. The Americans learned that the British were planning on taking over the hills around Boston in order to gain a tactical advantage. The British would end up winning this battle because there was a lack of ammunition forcing the Americans to retreat.
The fourth major war was that the battle of Saratoga would take place on September 19, 1777. The British general John Burgoyne surrendered his army to the Americans after suffering defeat at the battle of Saratoga. The Fifth and last major battle of the American Revolutionary War. British General Cornwallis surrender at Yorktown was the unofficial end to the war. Finally on september 3, 1783 The Treaty of Paris would happen and that officially ended the war.
The American revolutionary War founded this country. On July 4, 1776 The United States of America signed the declaration of independence. And from that day forward America was officially a free country. Being a free country gave America the ability to be self governed every country needs a certain type of rules. After the colonies declared independence they had to write their own constitution. “Impassioned with the republican spirit of the revolution, political leaders pointed their ideal search experimenting with new ways realizing the goals of the Revolution. In addition all the colonies worked to make the Articles of Confederation which itself provided the nascent with invaluable experience”. “And on September 17, 1787 at the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, the new U.S. Constitution, creating a strong federal government with an intricate system of checks and balances, was signed by 38 of 41 delegates to the convention America had an official government”.
The American Revolutionary War made Americans safe, unifying the people helping them know that America was a safe country run by a brand new government. Now that America was a free country it helped the Americans save money by not having to pay the British taxes. On July 4, 1777 marked the name of a new holiday, enjoying our country's freedom. Celebrating the fourth of July was a big thing in 1777 because America was a new nation. People would raise their liberty pole fire guns and cannons, march in parades, play sports, games and put on shows on independence day.
The country America has to enjoy today is from the brave Americans who fought in the American Revolutionary War. The Revolutionary War was the greatest accomplishment ever in American history because it led to the founding of this country, gave freedom, and unified the people. The America that we know and love today came from the brave American soldiers who died for this country.
