After taking the MBTI test my preferences are ENFP that is extrovert, intuitive, feeling and perceiving. Which predisposed me to be creative, hardworking and have a great amount of empathy. I know that I am warm, enthusiastic and imaginative. These traits are the ones that allow me to see life full of opportunities. I listen a lot and I don’t hesitate to give appropriate feedbacks at due time. When I am engaged in a project I usually expect strong support from my team mates and others in order to achieve a good job with the participation of all. In sort I prefer leading with energy and enthusiasm and I communicate easily. NVC and me How do I react with the Nonviolent communication (NVC) tool that involves Observations, Feelings, Needs and Requests. Being attuned to the environment I have the ability to observe a lot.
In a conversation or a negotiation, I give time to others to abound in their development so that I know exactly where I will focus my priorities. I seldom go in a meeting knowing exactly what I may come out with. What we gain from verbal exchanges is sometime priceless, for me the best asset and wealth we have is the person next to you that accept to communicate. The needs could clearly flow out and we can try new things that could totally boost the actual performance.
Being extroverted and having much empathy the request that I express should meet the total consent or approval of other in the direction of cooperation. “SCARF stands for Status, Certainty, Autonomy, Relatedness and Fairness. ”(Medium. com, 2018) SCARF aims to improve decision making and problem solving, emotion regulation, collaboration with others, and change management. I believe that leading people is forming a team with each having his strengths and weaknesses. A team should not be homogenous. There could be friction from time to time but all of us having the same objectives and goals at stake. I know that I am the leader because I can orchestrate so that people working with me each achieve his objectives. Each one should understand how all entities function so that he knows best what has to be done at his level to yield better results. This attitude encourages others to gain more autonomy and participate in the long chain of “provider and client” in well drafted processes.
At the end each could have the personal reward for doing the right thing for the benefit of all. NVC is a communication tool, mostly verbal, that can be used to resolve conflicts between two people or within groups. The practice of nonviolent communication would also enable one to be in a better relationship with oneself, to better understand one's deeper needs and to take charge, autonomously and responsibly, of the various aspects of one's own life. SCARF is a powerful method that can boost our performance. As a leader, behind the apparent simplicity of the concept hides a very real complexity to activate together and in time its five components.
