The Summary Of An Inspector Calls
An inspector calls is a play of three acts of drama, In my opinion Sheila is most important character in the play, in act 1 , “a pretty girl in her early twenties, very pleased with life and rather excited.” May be the audience feels in the beginning that she isn't mature and inexperienced but as the play continues she becomes more mature and of course all the audience feels that, in act 1, Yes – except for all last summer, when you never came near me, and I wondered what had happened….' I think that she isn't Inexperience as she appears in the beginning but she is smart and wise, her parents called Mr. Arthur Birling and Mrs. Sybil Birling, and she has one brother called Eric Birling , she acts like a child and shows how she is credulity when she called her parents “mummy” and “daddy”, in act 1, “ I think it's perfect. Now I really feel engaged.” Also this quote shows how she is superficial , in act 1, “Oh, how horrible! Was it an accident?.” This quote shows that is the only one which cares about Eva Smith, Sheila has many good things such as: honest , nosiness, merciful, sympathetic, exiting, funny and kind, in act 1, “(Miserably) So I’m really responsible?” This quote demonstrates how honest she was with herself , in act 1, “No, not really it was my fault.” This quote shows that she recognized that she made a very bad mistake and she was wrong when she complained on her and I think the audience loved Sheila because she is honest and helped the inspector to get all the information that he needed, she played an important role in Eva Smith's death and she felt Very sorry, the play highlights on Sheila’s personality and how good she was and how she is a good and pure person, she was shocked by the news of Eva Smith's death, she thought that she made her to suicide and all of these things did because she was “ jealous” from her, she learned inspector Goole’s lesson to them while there are people like (Mr. Birling and Mrs. Birling and Gerald ) didn't understand the lesson and didn't thought that they made any mistake, on the other hand, the younger generation that presented by Eric and Sheila were more wise and more mature and more responsible than them all, in act 1, “(laughs rather hysterically) Why – you fool….” She shows angry and hate the characters who tried to hide the truth from the inspector about their relationship with Eva Smith and she is younger than them but it shows that she is braver and more honest than them, Act 2 ,'I feel you're beginning all wrong. And I'm afraid you'll say or do something that you'll be sorry….' she felt that her mother was lying or she wasn't explaining well to the inspector Goole and she was so scared for her mother and she felt if her mother continued in lying it will be worse for them all , act 2, “ I know I’m to blame – and I’m desperately ….' she was the first one to accept the blame and recognized that she was responsible for her death , act 3, ” No, not yet. It's too soon. I must think. “ In this quote Sheila shows that she is very mature and wise and shows how she develop herself when she refused to take the ring again , act 3, “now you are beginning all over again to pretend that nothing much has happened” this quote shows that Sheila has changed for better and she Criticizes her parents and they didn't say that they were wrong and they did mistakes because of their pride.
The language of the play was very good to understand and believed and the language was from the important things that makes the audience more interesting and it was simple language and the writer made all the action that happened in this play to take the audience's attention, also all the surprises that happened suddenly at the beginning of act 2 and act 3 shows an amazing drama to make the audience more enjoyable, exited and interesting in the following actions that will happen in the play and to see who is the criminal ?? and The writer uses so beautiful structure in An Inspector Calls which gets audience's attention and make all the audience catch their seats like when they know that Goole isn't an inspector and there is no suicide case .
In 15th to 16th centuries the polite plays were so famous and these plays their target to learn the audience to don't make these seven deadly things such as : desire, ravenous, avarice, lazy, fury and jealous, in the polite plays the characters punished themselves and penance at the end, in this play Mr. Arthur Birling, Mrs. Sybil Birling, Gerald Croft, Eric Birling and Sheila did crimes and these crimes like the seven deadly things, Mr. Arthur Birling is grasping and avarice , , “ lower costs and higher prices” this quote clarifies that his only dream to collect money only, while Sheila is “ jealous” and “furious” when she saw her in the mirror , she complained on her so the manager fired her from the job, A crime thriller is a literary style that talks about a crime happens and gives the audience some information about the people who have doubts around them to make the audience guesses who is the criminal before the play or a movie ended like the play of an inspector calls in the beginning Mr. Arthur Birling invite Gerald's family in his house but they refused the invitation but Gerald Croft came alone to betrothal Sheila and it reveals that it was a good day but it was not after someone who called himself an inspector Goole came to the house for a suicide crime and he started to make all the characters confess in front of each other, so it makes the audience feels exited and thinking in one thing who is the criminal?? And the writer success in the crime thriller. We know that the inspector is here to search in the crime but there is no character in the play of Eva Smith we just imagining the character by inspector Goole and the play started and ended at one single night in April 1912 and takes place in the dining room in Birling's House in North Midlands ,the play is focusing on the upper middle class like Birling's family and the maid called Edna it shows the upper middle class like Birling's family.
The play was written by English novelist or dramatist called J. B. Priestly, first performed in the Soviet Union in 1945, an inspector calls his one of the most famous plays for himself and the stages and many people still loving this play till now .

The Political View, during the 1930's priestly became so interested about the results of social inequality in Britain, in 1942 priestly and others established a new political party called the Common Wealthy Party, and demand the public ownership of land, better and greater democracy, and spreading the morality in politics, in 1945 the Lapour Party combines with their party, and Priestly had an important role for upgrading the country which began to appear after the end of the war, and he thought that the countries can't get away from the world wars unless they separate the cooperation and respect between the all countries, so the United Nations were active movement and the nuclear armies began in 1950s between West and East, he helped to found the peace (CND) between the countries, he hoped to show all the people in the world that Britain an example of moral act of nuclear disarmament.
At the end , of course all of us and the audience keeps their eyes on Sheila's development and how she was at the beginning and how she changed and how she is wise and responsible and honest, she is the best character to learn the society at this time, all the humans have bad things but the best thing to know your problems and try to fix them, “ We are responsible…” This quote said by the inspector to all of them and shows that anyone are responsible for all of us to live better, and decrease the criminal cases and improve this society .
