After the incident had took place, RCMP interviewed all of the dealers in the show. The shooter, escaped the fair before anyone had seen their face. When all the interviews the RCMP had finished, they had looked at the camera footage in the building to try and identify who the shooter was. After 2 hours of trying to find who the shooter was, they had identified who they were, and where they were living. Had been caught just before dawn the next day. RCMP says that his name is Brandon Knight, 26-year-old man. Knight lives 22 minutes away from the South Florida Fair in Boynton Beach. He lives with his parents, and two younger siblings, names not wanting to be given out. Leon Armitage, a survivor of the shooting had said shockingly, “I am lucky to be alive right now. Thankfully the bullet shot into me wasn’t deep. If it had gotten any deeper, my heart would have been shot then I would be dead by now. He wasn’t the only one that had been shot and survived, a woman named Beatrice Cardinal had gotten into the same position as him. “It was scary, ” Cardinal says shakily, “Once I heard the first shot go off, I had totally lost all hearing. The only thing I could hear was the sound of people screaming and the gunshots going off in the background, and the ringing in my ear. ”
Another suspect in the shooting had told us, “First thing you know you’re looking at what’s being displayed, and then the next thing everybody is running, yelling and the shots of a gun are all you can hear. It happened so quickly, I wanted to see who was shooting, but all I saw was running people everywhere I looked. ” Everybody that had seen the incident occurred, was and is still in total shock and fear that this had happened in a split second. The day after April 22, relatives and friends had gone to the building to commemorate the fallen ones by laying down flowers, pictures, candles, crosses and letters. We talked with a family at the building getting their opinions on the shooting. ”I hadn't really expected this to happen, and I'm pretty sure everybody else hadn't either. Hopefully, communities will help out to families. ” Jaden Barnum’s mom had said between her sobs.
“Shootings have got to stop, ” says a 9-year-old boy. ”The victim has got to realize that they're going to hurt more people and themselves more than it's going to help them, ” finishes the dad. Prayers are sent from all around the world to the families of the fallen angels.
