The United States Marines' Foundation Toys for Tots
The Toys for Tots Foundation is mainly run by the united states marines. They distribute not only toys but educational things as well, like books to children whose parents can't afford them. There are more than over one-thousand kids in America who don't have any toys or books to read or use on their free time. The effect of this is that those poor kids usually end up jobless or even homeless when they grow up. That is when in 1947 (when the foundation first started) it was the happiest day for those kids who didn't have any toys or books before. The toys for tots foundation helps and provides families with children that can't afford toys by giving them donated ones. The reason you should help and donate your toys, books, or anything educational with the toys for tots foundation is because it is the best foundation that donates toys and books worldwide. They also have a literacy program that helps disadvantaged kids with resources that will help them academically. You should help us out by doing this because then you would be helping put a smile on some of these kids' faces. You would also be doing them a favor because you're giving them a childhood that they didn't have before.
Toys for tots were created by the marine corps. It was founded by Bill Hendricks in 1947. It was so successful that in 1948 they expanded into a nationwide campaign. The very first toy that they used to donate to children was a hand-crafted doll that was made by his wife. In 1948 when the campaign was a hit Walt Disney helped out by designing the poster for the foundation. In 1983 the first lady nancy Reagan was the spokesperson for the foundation. In 1990 wheel of fortune and pizza hut had an eight-week promotion. In those eight weeks, they were able to raise over $3,000,000 and made a Guinness world record for the most donations made by call-in promotions.
The reason you should donate toys to kids that can't afford it. One fact about us is that we are a non-profit charity so we don't keep any of your donations. We are also a local campaign that begins in October and ends in December. Although our campaign relies mostly on local generosity. There is also an individual either a marine or a local community organization that is designated the toys for tots coordinator for that community. I almost forgot to mention that we have local campaigns that happen annually in over 500 communities covering all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The campaign also provides leadership, funding, and support needed for successful annual toy drives. Most importantly though is the fact that over the years marines have established close working relationships with churches and other local community agencies.
Help support and donate to our literacy program. The literacy program is a way that you could help and donate resources for education. These educational materials include many things like notebooks, books, and etc. also every donation to the foundation helps place a book to the less fortunate. The reason im telling you this is because there are over 14 million kids that live below the poverty level. A random fact about our foundation is that most of the donations that we get are sometimes sent overseas. Many kids in low-income families face many barriers to success, including the ability to learn about social, emotional, and behavioral problems. The solution of this problem is having access to the right books at home. Another random fact is that 1 in 300 kids have access to books but with your help, you could make that number go up a few thousand.
Those were only some of my reasons that you should help and donate your old toys, books or other good school supplies with the toys for tots foundation. Also, you should think about how the poor little kids would feel when they received the items that you donated them. If you are interested in donating something with our foundation then it should be simple. I say that it is simply because it truly is. All you have to do is go to a local church or a local campaign that supports us.
