The earth has regular patterns of day and night exposure and human biology is designed to work with this cycle. A successful night's sleep is vital for a healthy lifestyle and body. Without it, it can be detrimental to the brain and bodies of humans. As modernity has struck western civilization; demanding jobs, Wellbeing is an essential part to a happy, functioning and fulfilling life as a human. If our sleep patterns are altered for the worse, an individual's quality of life and wellbeing is at risk. Chronic sleep deprivation’s effects on our health regarding physical, social and emotional wellbeing is destructive and disturbing. Sleep deprivation has detrimental effects on our physical health regarding Alzheimer's disease, causes social issues such as loneliness, social anxiety, deriving pleasure from social interactions and chronic sleepiness puts people at greater risk for depression. Thus, the studies developing and evaluating these issues further implement the point that sleep deprivation causes harmful and terminal problems that can last a lifetime. 

Sleep allows humans to repair their minds and process information and without it, sleep deprivation can put humans at risk for Alzheimer’s disease. Through progressive research, the Australian Bureau of Statistics, found that Alzheimer’s disease is the second leading cause of death among Australians and the lead killer of women in 2016. Dementia Australia estimated 27,800 people with younger onset Alzheimer’s disease in 2020, is expected to rise to 41,250 people by 2058. These statistics demonstrate the detrimental outcomes with Alzheimer’s disease and shows the reality of this grueling disease. According to Mckeehan, getting less than 6 hours of sleep per night has been linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Terrible sleeping pattern and just one’s bad nights rest has been linked to Alzheimer’s disease. An unsuccessful night's sleep not only affects your day to day function and mood but could also lead to a progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking.

Consistent sleep deprivation has a negative impact on wellbeing and leads to drowsiness and social decline. Lack of sleep is a leading cause of people becoming anti-social and isolated. Swinburne University in Melbourne and the Australian Psychological Society conducted a survey in 2018 that founded, 50.5% of Australians reported they felt lonely for at least a day in the previous week; 27.6% felt lonely for three or more days. Nearly 30% rarely or never felt they were part of a group of friends. This statistic alone illustrates how greatly affected Australians are by loneliness. A study conducted by Simon and Walker, suggest that sleep deprivation contributes to a neuronal and behavioural pattern of social withdrawal and loneliness. One that other people in society can notice, and vice versa, making certain members of society feeling isolated and begin to reciprocate anti-social behaviour. Sleep deprivation is damaging to an individual's well-being and is a factor in loneliness and social isolation. 

7-9 hours of sleep is required to have a forward-looking outlook on life, motivation and a positive wellbeing. Without these crucial hours of sleep, humans' mental health can be impacted greatly. Depression is a mental illness that affects neurological chemical balances in the brain of dopamine and serotonin leaving people unhappy, unmotivated and in an extreme state of sadness. ABS National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing, discovered that 15% of Australians aged 16 to 85 have experienced depression. Isolation and social withdrawal is a damaging result of sleep deprivation and overall, it may be said that just one night of sleep deprivation can chip away at mental health and play a role in causing symptoms of depression.  

Human’s having a positive and healthy wellbeing has many components to a healthy life. Sleep deprivation has a destructive correlation to physical, social and mental health. Human’s bodies require 7-9 hours of sleep every night and without it can put humans at risk for Alzheimer's disease, social decline and isolation and depression. A lead factor causing Alzheimer’s disease is sleep deprivation. Just one night of less than 6 hours of sleep, can put humans at risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s disease is a horrifying terminal illness that can lead to death and sleep deprivation plays a key factor in this. Sleep deprivation not only affects our physical health but can lead to social isolation and antisocial behavior. Human’s need social interaction to stay functioning, motivated and happy. Lastly, without the recommended hours of sleep, human’s day to day function can be affected by symptoms of depression. Depression is a mental illness that affects our chemical balance of serotonin and dopamine and can have negative results due to sleep deprivation Overall, individual’s wellbeing is deeply impacted by sleep deprivation and can lead to damaging effects to individuals and society.
