Every company needs to maintain their data safe and in order to do it they have to do backups continuously, but how can we trust that our data is in a safe place? People working in this field must know how to protect the system and data safe from other sources such as hacking. Data can be alternated, exposed, and destroyed by unauthorized users, so it is really important to secure business organizations with a better security. Companies such as “Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, IBM Cloud and Dropbox” are the biggest on using iCloud storage.

Let’s just think how many files, images, credit card, and personal information they have into their system; as we know hackers always try to attack company with big profits. Recently, two big hacking attacks happened; the first one in 2017 and the second one in 2018. The first one attacked Deloitte’s Azure cloud getting in risk 5,000,000 emails meanwhile Tesla AWS account was hacked for cryptocurrency usages. So, how do we trust companies? Not mentioning healthcare companies, government organization or bank. Encryption is the first step to protect the data, so hackers that are trying to read our data are not able to do it since they do not have the key to read these data, but only the provider has one.

Companies such as CertainSafe and AxCrypt allow us to hold our key, which means that we can create our encryption. Having a VPN also improves the chances to not get hacked and protect our business. Some companies offer a VPN service or a Virtual Private Cloud, which is isolate from the other cloud, but this means to pay extra money every often. Managing the access is another important factor to secure our data, some of the basic identity and access management include security questions such as,” what is your favorite movie?”, password authentication composed of uppercase and lower letters, numbers, special character, and some access privilege.

There are many factor of authentications, it only depends based on companies needs and the way they are willing to protect and store data. Machine learning are seen as the future because those machine can protect the data e control it instead of humans, but always with the human help. Could be worth it? If business want to secure their costumers data and protect their system, they may option for have encrypted data, use VPN, and manage the companies access.

I enjoyed reading this article because every one of us that uses computer or self-phone has some data stored. I believe that no one wants to share information with the rest of the world without giving the permission. Moreover, in today world our information are easy shared; for instance, doctors store our personal information in their database such as social security number, address, personal healthcare information, those data are critical and crucial to be shared with others. Consequently, I found this topic very informative. When is about networking security, I love to research more about because this is the field that I want to specialize. I do believe that we must prevent hackers to enter in our system, and to do it, we must be careful.

I strongly support the idea that business must have data encrypted in order to assure more trust among the costumers. VPN is also a good idea, but it depends from the cost, big company may can afford to pay big cost while small business are not aware of that. Managing the access is one of the first thing to do in my opinion since we do not know who may want to access to our files and documents. Overall, this was a good article that express the main concept for a secure cloud involving two big issue caused by hackers during the past two years.
