This I Believe In: Racial Equality

I believe in racial equality. Some may call me “color blind” and others don't say anything, but just leave their harsh judgments up to doltish stereotypes. Racism, the prejudice discrimination directed against someone of a different race based on a belief that one's own race is superior.

As I grow up I see and hear more people of all races complain about others of a different race. I just don't understand. We are all humans. We may not all have the same beliefs, but yet we all have lungs that help us breath, a brain to help us think, and heart to help us love. When we are born we do not call ourselves black, white, Asian etc. Those names are labels that we are taught to call ourselves and others. Those labels are not us. No one would mistake YOU for the car you drive, no one should mistake YOU for your body. Your body is just something that you drive, you do not get to choose what your body looks like when you are born. You are stuck with the body you drive for your whole life with no chance to a test drive, with no chance to choose the model, size or color.

Someone that is very close to me told me that I shouldn't be bringing another race into the family, but I feel that if people still think that, then we all must need more diversity. I wasn't raised to judge, label and make assumptions or stereotypes. I believe that we are all the same in a way and the differences should not stop anyone from being with someone they truly care about and love.

We should all have equal chances and opportunities in life, and that should not be based on skin color or race. Races are labels that we are taught to learn and call people. Racial equality is so important in this world.

When I was brought up, I was taught to treat others the way I want to be treated, it is the golden rule isn't it. I do still believe that we are all equal and we all have the same vale and are equal. You don't want people to be racist towards you. Treat others the way you want to be treated and the whole world will be in peace. People can't change their skin color and body. A body isn't YOU. So don't judge someone on their body when they can't change it, and don't judge someone on their body that isn't who they really are.

In my life I have learned to love others for only their personality and not to care about the way someone looks because it is on the inside that matters and I feel that more people need to think that and use the golden rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated and make everyone happy. We can never judge the lives of others, because each person knows only their own pain and renunciation. It's one thing to feel that you are on the right path, but it's another to think that you path is the only path and the only good path. Hating people because of color is WRONG, it doesn't matter which color does the hating, no matter what, it is WRONG.
