Trumps Immigration Speech

Donald Trump in the speech given on immigration talks of how we are in a crisis here at the southern border. He states the wrongs and “crimes” that have been committed and that we are running out of space. ICE is deporting many immigrants back to their home countries at a rapid pace. He states that they are putting a danger to all Americans, especially those in the south coming in illegally. He uses three fallacies those being Patriotic Approach, Personal Attack, and lastly Covering oneself in the cross to gain his followers. Although Trumps speech is anything but weak, it does contain some strong points to build his message.

One weakness of this speech is speaking outrage on topics with no filter and demanding help for southern border. Trump talks of immigrants as only being human traffickers and rapists as well danger to America patriotism. Trump throughout this speech uses the fallacy “Patriotic Approach” to recognize America’s greatness. He continues to boast about the many immigrants that have been already deported and how many he going to send more. Anyone that are to disagree with trump are known to conservatives to be unpatriotic. This is where he is at his weakest for discriminating and exorcise immigrants who are in search of help. Trump asserted that there’s no other way to go about fixing the immigration system without sending those who are guilty of crimes back. To keep 'America great again' he pushes people out and ignores true problems in our country.

Another weakness is the attacking of the democratic party always and not holding back. He makes fun of Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, etc. for his pleasure and political benefit. Trump uses the fallacy “Personal Attack” to help get heat off of himself and blame others for his doings. He asserts himself by putting down those in the office with him or before him at every given time. Trump calls Hillary crooked constantly and blames Nancy for all the craziness in the house of reps. Trump cries out every time something suspicious brought up about him is a “witch hunt.” Leading many to believe that the democratic party is to only work against the people of America and for others. He takes no leadership in his actions, so how is a president like him to lead America into the greater good in the future? It is clear to see that as much as he attacks others it doesn’t hide the fact that he is not helping the country as a whole.

Trump rarely has strengths in his speeches, but some stand out in this speech of immigration and democratic party. Trump uses the fallacy of “Covering oneself in the cross” showing anyone that is against him is not Christian or unholy. He does his best in providing a strong enough persuasion to his audience and he works at proving to the people he works in their favor. He tells those who want to erase religion and that this country in god’s hands will be the greatest there ever is. Trump tells of stories of people he's met or heard of and uses them as poster people for his reasons of immigration policies. He talks of the dangers of all these illegal activities at the border and the need for higher security. Trump explains the assaults done by illegal criminals and how the ms-13 poses a greater danger for trafficking. Trump asks those who disagree with him to look into the eyes of the families that illegal criminals have affected. He uses his Christian like beliefs to gain sympathy for these victims and grow an outrage towards those who are doing against the law of the land.

Donald Trump through his speech uses multiple fallacies to gain the appreciation and following of those in America. He does about anything to come out on top in the end and that doesn’t sit well with many. He uses attacking people and being holy man to gain those who are tired of what the democratic party stands for. He paints people out to be against him always and can never think for the greater good of the people. The American people are one group to him, and he makes sure it’s seen that way.
