Understanding Of Personality In Terms Of Sigmund Freud'S Defense Mechanism Theory And Abraham Maslow'S Theory Of Basic Needs
Can we understand our own personality? Personality is usually defined, but no one can understand. Every personality is different, and this creates us who we are. Also, personalities can change everything from our relationships to the way we grow up. We have some theories they possess some traits of personality. I learn the theories center on development how personality is shown in each individual different. All theories we discuss in class only two can help me to express my personalities such as Sigmund Freud's Defense Mechanism theory and Abraham Maslow's.
First, Maslow’s theory contributed to my personality base on motivation and basic need. The two stages they are the most important for me are the psychological and the safety and security. Also, the last two levels no everyone reach them. For me, the most significant experiences were I was growing up was trying to survive. Part of my journey was based on the basic need and insecurity. Let me start with my mother, she was only 12 years old when her birth mother abandoned her in the street. Next, she gets pregnant with me when she was a 16-year-old. Our living situation was very poor, the house was only supported with four pieces of rock. These experience of my childhood taught me to survive always keeping a positive attitude. The negative environments such as food, clothes, and insecurity help me to look something better. But the best motivation was my mother because she never gives up to try to give me a better life.
Another theory that helps me is Sigmund Freud's Defense Mechanism theory. I believed these theories go hand by hand with Maslow's theory. We all have a defense mechanism, it might be isolating yourself from everyone else, trying to look at the bright side or denial. For me, my defense mechanism is to look for a better life. Whenever I have any problem, or I'm feeling down because of a situation, I always tell myself "look where are now. " The most motivation part of my life is my mother and God. I was 13 years old went an open myself to the Lord. I learn to pray to talk to him and believe on him to manage my life. On reference to theories personality, we are human and always trying to find the positive in the negative situation. We decided to focus on something else to change the environment where we come from. Besides, I am not perfect, I have some positive and some negative attributes. The first positive thing I always look for the bright side of life. I think that having a right attitude toward life makes my lives more relaxed and happier. According to Maslow’s people, the motivate can move up to the next level. The negative part is people are different from each other. So, my social interactions are limited. I know using the right techniques might help me overcome my shyness. I should force myself to become more open to people and let them see me. One of my most significant negative aspects is the way a talk because English is not my first language. I am scared to talk to some people because they may misunderstand me. But I know that speaking louder, looking people right in the eyes, and start a conversation can help me take over my weakness.
Finally, These theories represent just part of the different ways of thinking about my childhood and development. In reality, I can understand now how I change and grow throughout my childhood looking at many various factors that influence my social learning, physical and psychological growth. Also, the environment and the interactions between my family also determine how I grow physically as well as mentally. Today, these theories explain a different important aspect of my life. Help me to explore deep inside to understand or accepted my life today.
