Ways To Increase One’s Productivity At Work
It seems like lots of companies are embracing the “do more with less” motto. So where does that leave you? Scrambling to meet deadlines, wearing 20 different hats, attending to the stream of emails and call… you get the picture? You may be in love with your job, however, that doesn’t mean it is easy to be as efficient. Diversions beg for our attention, stress eats away at our focus, and too many tasks are a challenge. You finish your workday feeling like you weren’t able to achieve your listed goals for the day. You begin your day with a list, but by the close of the day, you discover an even longer list. I get it. Being effectively efficient at work can be hard. Managing your time in ways that are conducive to your efficiency is essential. But it can sometimes be hard to know where to start. I’d say it does not matter who you are, you need to be in tune with how you manage your 24 hours. Crucially, it all narrows down to the necessity to be smart about how you manage timetable.
Manage Time in Small Blocks
I’d like to introduce those of you who might not be familiar with a concept called the “Pomodoro Method. ”Research reveals, the brain can only actually concentrate for 25 minutes at a time on a particular task. The thesis behind the Pomodoro approach is that you time yourself working for 25 minutes, and then take a break for 5 minutes to quickly re-energize. It’s also important to stay relaxed, stay calm, and be well rested. Studies show that you are more productive when you are well rested.
Less is More
Numerous individuals mistake efficiency with being busy. In an instance, you have ten things on your to-do list and ended up completing six. That is pretty productive, right? However, what if those last four things are the ones that were more fundamental? This is where organizing comes in. Once you've done this, you would then be able to assign, delay, or totally evacuate less basic tasks. The key is to ensure your remaining task at hand is sensible. When you can glance back at your day and realize that what you completed was preeminent. That is more efficient than doing loads of insignificant assignments.
Avoid Multi-tasking
It can be tempting to want to take care of a few tasks at once, especially if they seem small or easy. We’re fooling ourselves when we say we can easily juggle phone calls, presentations, and eating lunch. According to psychologists, trying to do multiple duties at once can lead to losing productivity. Center your attention on performing one duty at a time, and you’ll actually end up completing it faster.
Life-Work Boundaries
Figure how long you plan on spending at work—and outside work. In the event that you leave over 40 hours to work, you will feel it. Spending additional hours at work inflicts significant damage on your health, but also affects the outcome on your performance. Get ready for a beneficial workday by making a sound and balanced lifestyle. Take breaks at intervals, have leisure activities outside of work, and get additional rest to remain vitalized. Having a solid life-work balance doesn't need to be hard. Begin small, incorporate some essential efficiency tips, and you will see a positive effect on your work execution.
Finally, if you perceive the necessity to enhance your productivity at work, combat the urge to put in longer hours. There’s no universal recipe for increasing productivity. It’s just something everyone has to negotiate on their own. Productivity depends on your habits, moods, emotions and physiological functioning. What I found particularly important for improving my own productivity was a focus on my body – listen closely and follow your instincts.
