What Can I Say to Describe Philippines
The Philippines is a very beautiful country, an archipelago with a total of more than 7,000 islands. In the describe Philippines essay I am going to answer some questions about this country, its culture, history and more.
Do I Agree With the Differentiation Between the West and the East?
Yes, I agree with the differentiation between the Western and Eastern Culture because each of them has a very unique culture of their own. Eastern has a beautiful culture and has existed long before Western culture. Keeping it different among the other cultures helped them to preserve it. The people in Eastern countries have so much to be proud of because of their own culture. Western culture offers plenty to the world just as they are. This culture is also beautiful in its own way. For example, the population in Western countries is more liberal on the other hand the Eastern is more traditional than people in the West when we consider their clothing, rituals, and so on. People from the West are more open to expressing their feelings. If they are angry, they vent it out. But, people in the east may hold it in for tact and good manners. Additionally, arranged marriages are not at all common in the West for they believe in love as the basis for marriage while Arranged marriages are common in the Eastern countries. They are normally arranged by the parents of the couple or other elders. They believe in the concept that love comes after marriage. These are just a few of the many different cultures between the two. The two cultures are vastly different to each other and all we need to do is respect both of them.
Where Can I Find the Philippines in the Distinction?
The Philippines is one of the countries that is located in the eastern part of the world, but because of American and Spanish colonization, western culture also influences Filipinos. The Philippines is part of the Eastern world and from the differentiation from above I can say that Philippines have similar traits, culture, and traditions from other neighboring countries. In Eastern countries, elders are considered as the leaders of the home and children often refer their choices to them and obey what they say. Important decisions related to the children's future are normally made by the elders. And, when parents grow old, the kids are likely to take care of them. In this part of their culture, I can say that it's totally the same with the beliefs or cultures of the Filipinos. Every Filipino family. The elders in the home are the one who makes decisions for their families however when they get older their children are the one who take good care of them, not same with other countries that they put their old parents to home for the aged.
What are the Factors That Make the Philippines Similar or Different From its Asian Neighbors?
The Philippines is found in Asia together with Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, and many more. Among all the countries in Asia, only the Philippines have many dialects, and they are also very good at speaking in English. Every country has similarities and differences in terms of their culture. In similarities between the Philippines and in Asian neighborhoods, people are respectful to the elders. In the Philippines, Filipinos give respect to the elders by saying 'po' and “opo”, and also have a culture of “pagmamano”, while in the other Asian neighbors taking vows and other gestures as a sign of respect is what they do. What's the difference is Filipinos give more respect to the foreigners while many Filipinos suffer when they become Overseas Filipino Workers. Another similarity is the love they have to their parents or being family oriented. Even though children become adults and have their own family and also their works, they still live with their parents until they grow old and in their very last moments. The difference is when it comes to children, we can see many street children everywhere and it is because of poverty. On the other hand, Asian love sports like basketball and volleyball. They also love foods, but the difference is the manners while eating and also Filipinos love to use their hands while in other countries they use chopsticks in eating. We all know that Asian is very hardworking, Filipinos are also hard working and no matter what they believe in God and his blessings. Besides, Asians are considered as Christians, the only difference is there are many religions in the Philippines.
Is There Also a Difference Between Regions or Ethno Linguistic Groups in the Philippines?
The Philippines is divided into regions that are composed of different ethnic logistics groups. They live in a country with different cultures and beliefs. Also, as I have said earlier, this country consists of many dialects and in every ethic group, there is a dialect that they are using in everyday living. They live in different places such as mountains, near bodies of water, farms, or even in hidden places and in rural and urban areas. Because of this, they tend to have a different way of living. It is much harder especially in the mountains, in provinces or in rural areas. Their hard work only costs less than those who finished studying and have good work. That's why nowadays, we could see many people in ethnic groups wanting to study and continue their education in order to help their tribes and became an inspiration to everyone. Education is a big part of life and if we compare it to them, they have limited schools, supplies and eventually, it's not enough that's why they still pursue and go to urban areas to prove that they can also do it. Filipinos are so hardworking and inspiring. And one of the reasons why Filipinos have this mindset is that there is a God. When we talk to religion, this country consist of different religions, most are Catholics, some are Muslim, Iglesias, Born again etc. But even though they are different from one another. They are still Filipinos, we are still Filipinos. In all these differences what we need is the love and respect from one other.
Conclusion
Truth to be told, the Philippine history has a lot to share. From its origin to its people's way of life. For several years, invasions and wars have tried to claim the great island of the east, and countless geologic events had tried to bring it down. Moreover, from the very beginning of its origin, the Philippines emerges to still exist in the surface of the Earth. It all started from drifting away from its original form to emerging from the bottom of the Earth, Philippines have made it to be discovered and a place where natural resources is abundant and a place where people live together harmoniously.
