What We Can Do To Minimize The Adverse Effects Of Environmental Contaminants
In my entire life, I have grown up with the idea that anything that surrounds us is a constituent of the environment. The esnvironmentalist has turned the “conservation of environment” term into a cliché. Getting people to refrain from activities like feeding, wate rconsumption, driving habits, depositing waste and bugging their luggage’s calls for extraordinary measures. Until recently, I realized that the fight against pollutants is here to stay since the areas it focuses on are the core activities that sustain human beings. By collaborating, we can always adapt to alternative control measure in a bid to minimize and control the adverse effects of environmental contaminants.
Meat has been one of my fundamental dietary source of protein. However, I found out that delving on beef means that farmers must continue to keep more livestock. The amount ofgrain fed to animals comes from plants that are responsible for 10 to 40 times of greenhouse emissions. Instead, the same amount of plant should be used to feed millions of people.
Therefore, I find it viable to cut down the consumption of animal products and substitute it withan alternative or at least reduce the consumption rate. Luxurious activities play a significant role in environmental pollution. I find naturalhabits like walking a tiring exercise. Like millions of other people, I prefer taking a cub for small distance travel other than just walking. I occasionally try to imagine a world where chariots are the public means of transportation. Although it seems impossible, we should reduce the unnecessary burning of fuel which is the most significant compromise of the environment.
Water being an abundant natural resource in Canada, I feel that I have been misusing it. Like many other people, I consume lots of water by taking long showers. Further, I have turned itinto a habit the action of brushing while the tap is running. Both cases contribute to wastage ofwater which in turn encourage its shortage. On the same issue, water is the primary source of electricity. While minimizing water usage is essential, electrical energy ought’s to be preservedtoo. I won't advocate for zero usage of power, after all, no one will be ready to use candles forlighting. However, I would suggest the use of energy efficient gadgets.
The use of non-bio degradable materials has drastically devastated our surroundings. I don’t remember a day I shopped, but literary failed to purchase a product because it is made outof environmentally hazardous material. I would be willing to use degradable bottles and reusablelunch containers but what should I do if I can’t access such products? That’s why the fight against non-reusable gadgets should be a collective movement. Further, I would suggest to members of the public to avoid unnecessary dumping of litter. Instead, they should sort out materials that can readily decompose for dumping. Since the fight is collective, I will have to turn my old soda bottles into bird feeders and turn old coffee canisters into bulk pantry items.
In conclusion, zero tolerance to use of environmental pollutants may sound impossible, but it is minimizable. I am going to stand in the frontline and campaign the same message to mycolleagues. Conservation of water and energy, reduction of non-biodegradable wastes through recycling and reusing and eradicating burning of fuel should be the main agenda to all environmentalists. Therefore, I encourage everyone to embrace change in their lifestyle tosalvage our posterity.
