When Natural Evil Occurs, Victims Are All That Remains

Natural disaster seems to have become more frequent in recent years and the death toll created by these disasters is piling up. The standpoint states that as humans we have forgotten that Nature is the almighty power of the universe, not us. In the case of Natural evil there is no one to blame for the catastrophe that has occurred.

Typhoon Jedi and earthquake … recently wreaked havoc on Japan’s infrastructure and resulted in the casualties of many. The Standpoint, and David Suzuki, and news outlets discuss and examine the topic of Natural Evil. After an analysis of these resources I found that when the forces of Natural Evil are present, they are strong and leave those affected by it hopeless. Residents of Sapporo, Japan were recently awoken at 3:08 am to an earthquake that took the lives of many people. Natural evil can strike when people least expect it. Japans most recent earthquake took the lives of close to 40 residents. Original assumption posted on The Toronto Star said that at least seven were killed but after rescue teams sifted through the rubble in hopes of finding survivors, the power of natural evil once again proved its power when they found close to 40 dead bodies. In addition to this tragedy, natural evil isn’t a rare occurrence as stated in the Toronto Star that, “The last few months have brought a string of calamities. The quake came on the heels of a typhoon.” Natural Evil is not planned, humans cannot combat its power when it comes unexpectedly. The power of Natural evil is boundless, an earthquake shook Japan, destroying buildings and triggered a landslide that tore down a mountainside that buries people alive immediately after. David Suzuki proclaims that there is no ignominy in admitting ignorance or in confessing our inability to manage wild things such as the winds and water of typhoons. Recognizing our limitations will birth wisdom and we will be able to birth hope that is destroyed after a natural disaster when we realize our place in the natural order.

Many humans believe that we are almighty beings on earth as we can harvest its resources and use them as our own but the standpoints states that this behavior is catastrophic, “Such behaviors comes from a worldview that places humanity above Nature and God and has permitted us to live outside Nature’s Laws for some time. But clearly, this irreverence is now striking back at us with a reverence”. When the earth’s resources are used Natural evil thrives through climate change and strikes with natural events such as Typhoon Jedi. When Natural Evil occurs, victims are all that remains.
