A Big Deal Out Of Gender Nonconformity

First I think there is societal stereotypes of sexuality and no real education in sexuality. As no matter TV programs, social media (Facebook, Instagram), or mass media(magazines, newspapers), they offen express and explore the messages that who are in various possibilities of sexuality, homosexual and bisexual, is strange or just same as patients. For example, when people see a man he walk and voice feminine, or he is wearing makeup, they will think that that man is having a disease, mental illness, or seem as strange. As the public have the senses which are man should wear t-shirt and sporty shoes to express more androgynous, and that is “normal” and ”correction” way. However, there are no education curriculum for young children to learn what sexuality are, it just focus on the sex-disease, so the public lack the appropriate knowledge and senses on sexuality, and just affected on what messages media provided.

Also, what sexual behaviour and gender expression of people have are their choices and rights. And what things are “correct”or”incorrect”just depended on different person’s values. We should not use our own values and our views to argue and remark, and we need to respect, others behaviour and expression. Meanwhile, if I happen to also experience a nonconcordance between my mind and body, I will feel upset and difficult to adopt the society. When my biological sex is a female, but my gender identity is a male, and I express that in my clothing, behaviour, and voice. For example, I cut a short hair, dress like a boy, and walk androgynous, the public might call me “TomBoy” which means a girl who enjoys rough, noisy activities traditionally associated with boys. That is a negative meaning to definite the girl’s expression. And I will feel upset as someone just use their own values to definite my behaviour is “wrong” when I hear that. Also, I will feel scared that do my friends or family also seem me as strange. Then, I will difficult to adopt the society.

As a result of if I happen to also experience a nonconcordance between my mind and body, I will feel upset and difficult to adopt the community. We should not seem them as strange, and also we need to respect the choices and what they do of different people, that are their rights. That are all I think of why people make a big deal out of gender nonconfomity, and how I feel if I happen to also experience a nonconcordance between my mind and body.

After all I heard and learned, there are total three aspects to make a people become a women or a man. First, in biological aspect. When we borned, assigned sex is a label that we are given at birth based on medical factors, including our hormones, who has an testosterone is a male, and who has a progesterone is a female;Chromosomes, and genitals, who has a penis and scrotal sac is male, and who has a clitoris and vagina is a female. Most people are assigned male or female, and this is what’s put on our birth certificates. That is the fundamental of gender when a person borned.

Next, in gender identity, which is how we feel inside and how we express those feelings. Clothing, appearance, and behaviors can all be ways to express our gender identity. For example, someone will wear a t-shirt and sporty shoes that look androgynous to express he is a man, but, someone will wear dresses and high heels at certain time to look more feminine and express she is a women. However, some people may feel like a masculine female, and dress more androgynous, even they are assigned female at birth may identity as man, or a feminine male. What they are hope to be, and what their gender identity are may express the different of their biological sex, either a man or a women they want.

Moreover, in physical aspect. Some people may choose to medically transition, or change their names, or change their appearance to another sex. Through medical intervention, a person can receiving hormones or undergoing surgeries, and exercising their voice feminine or androgynous to be changed to another gender. Also, people can change their gender or names in identity document, for example, ID card and passport. That can make a people become a male or a female in legal. That are all aspects: biological, mental and physical aspects, which make a male or a female.
