A Brief Report On Asthma

Asthma is one of the most common conditions in the United States. It can be a small issue for some people, but for others, it can be a problem that needs to be handled every day. Asthma can affect people of all ages, but it is most common in children, and it often starts during childhood. Asthma is a lung disorder with many causes/triggers, and symptoms.

Asthma is a chronic, or long-term, condition in which the airways, used for transporting air in and out of the lungs, swell, narrow, and create extra mucus. This extra mucus blocks the airways, making it hard to breathe. There are two types of Asthma, allergic and non- allergic. Allergic asthma is created through certain allergens in the environment, while non-allergic asthma is created through factors such as stress, extreme weather, or certain medication. There is no known cure for Asthma, but certain treatments can help control it.

While there is no known cure for Asthma, there is no known cause either, for causes differ from person to person. Asthma can be triggered by various elements in the environment both natural and man-made. When the airways are exposed to a certain allergen in the environment, it causes them to swell which can make it hard to breathe. Another person whose airways are exposed to the same allergen may not have any reaction at all, or they may respond differently. Asthma can likewise form from occupational factors. When a person is at work, the airways may have a strong reaction to objects or liquids that are being exposed to the airways, such as chemicals or wood. Asthma also tends to develop through genetics, especially if a family member has had it.

People who have asthma may experience symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, or shortness of breath. For some people, Asthma symptoms can get even worse in some situations, such as during work, when symptoms are triggered by irritants in the working environment, or during exercise, especially if the air is cold and dry. When normal asthma symptoms get much worse, it is called an Asthma attack. Asthma attacks can happen suddenly and sometimes be fatal, or life-threatening. Sometimes if asthma is controlled, symptoms and asthma attacks can be managed and prevented. Because Asthma changes over a lifetime, symptoms may decrease over time and return later in life.

This common lung disorder with many causes/triggers and symptoms can be a daily problem for many people. Anybody can receive Asthma, and there are many people fighting Asthma in the world today. Genetic, environmental, and occupational factors are all linked to developing Asthma. Asthma holds many people back from their daily life, but it can be controlled so that loved ones can live a normal, healthy life.
