Family: A Descriptive Exploration of Parental Roles
My name is Ammy. I am studying psychology. I am from Bangladesh. With my parents we are permanent resident of USA since I was 3 years old. In my family, I have my father, my mother and a sister. I am the younger child of my parents. In our culture, we give a lot of priority in maintaining a very good relationship among ourselves. I chose to write a descriptive essay about family, so lets begin with my parents.
My father works here in USA. As we are not native here, we did not inherited any property. So to support my entire family my father works hard here. I have seen my father to work very hard since my birth. He loves me. I am very close to him. Since I was a little girl, my father used to teach me basic academic staffs. He was the first among the mentors I have ever had in my life. He sometimes get rude when I make any faults and scolds me. But after some time being, he feels sorry. He always think of my likings. When he shops, he first thinks of my likings and brings those for me. I remember, when I was a little girl, my father used to bring candies while returning from work. Now though he works hard and returns home sometime late, he always uses to spare time to talk to me about the day. As I am a woman, my father always worries about my safety and future. He never has failed to do his duties as a father. He often asks me if I am having any trouble. He always guides me and motivates me so that I can become a strong woman.
My mother is a housewife. My parents has separated their duties toward the family. As my father works outside, someone has to take the home responsibilities. That has been taken over by my mother. My mother is really a very sweet woman. She is the strict one of my family. She always try to teach me household chores which, being a lazy girl, I always ignores. She is my best friend. As I am a girl, I got some issues that I can only share with another girl. Though she is my mother, I never felt hesitate to share my girly problems with her. It is very easier to share things with my mother. She always supported me. She always removed my discomfort in any situation. She also works as a bridge between my father and me. Whenever I needed something, I sometimes feared of asking for those from my father. I do not know how, but my mother always managed to provide those to me from my father. My mother never feels tired.
My relationship with my parents differs in some context. I can share almost everything with my mother, which I am unable to do so with my father. My mother sometimes says that my father is spoiling me as he agrees and provides me everything I ask. In this sense, my mother restricts me from a lot of things arguing about my marital affairs.
Despite of some consequential differences between the relations of me with my father and mother, the similarities are more visible. The difference is due to the gender facts, but apart from that both of them are very special to me. As every daughter is a princess to her father, all mothers are best friend to their daughters. The comparison of the affections of father and mother for their children is meaningless. Both of them thinks of my happiness and future. They are always ready to sacrifice their own happiness for the sake of mine. We are two daughters of our parents, but they never have differentiated us. We are equal and both are special for our parents.
In conclusion, for a family to stand up right, both mother and father have equal contribution. Their affection toward the family is incomparable. They are like umbrella. If one acts as the shed then the other works as the stick that holds the shed. Both of their efforts are very much necessary to run the family. Family being the very fundamental social organization, proper management of the family matters is very essential. Without a good parenting, children never get to enter the greater future. A good parents not only make their own family future but also makes the future of the entire nation.
