Aim For The Boar At Bat: Optical Sight Vs Red Dot Laser Sight

Technology has made great strides in targeting systems for batting hunting. Let’s try to make some comparisons with the help of expert belt lists. Pulling a moving animal is difficult. The undersigned, little expert in the theme of wild boar, has not yet eliminated the tendency to frame and chase the animal, moreover stopping for a moment when pulling the trigger. Who knows if they know very well that at that moment the boar goes away and the pan is guaranteed. Things that makes those approaching the joke after years dedicated only to the selection hunt. One can say without a doubt that the optical wins at the points and we will see why, the absolute triumphed seems to be the instinct of the hunter. The shooting phase is so rapid that the habit, the experience, even the most irrational trust in one system rather than another play a fundamental role in forming everyone’s opinion on this subject. The rifle notch costs nothing and has zero footprint, the red dot is small and can cost only 200 dollars, going well in the substance of practical effectiveness as a super-model that now comes close to price in figures with three zeroes; the optics instead is more voluminous and if it costs little it really works badly, we are at 2000 dollars.

Less obvious is to say that now that with the Z6i 1-6 × 24 (42m of field of view at 100m) and even more with the Magnus 1-6.3 × 24 Leica (43.5m at 100m) the optics has reached a visual field that allows to shoot perfectly with both eyes open, at the smallest magnification these telescope work as a red dot laser sight, allowing an ultra-rapid acquisition of the animal in the race with exceptional immediacy even in the shot from super-short distance. If the optics start from 1.1x instead the field of view and the sensation of targeting with open eyes are less advantageous and the difference in the acquisition time compared to the red dot laser sight is definitely more penalizing. In other words, if you take a rifle with a Magnus 24 and aim, you only see the illuminated point, the optics does not really exist.

The illuminated circle with a laser beam at the center of the high quality optics lattice today has undoubtedly an advantage of sharpness compared to the simple red dot, which also presents parallax problems. If we find ourselves in a post with little visibility and we are accustomed to instinctively embrace, it is easy that we do not want to change our established habits to use only the target notch, and if we pull right we do well, because in fact we use technologically more advanced systems require some learning effort. In fact, it is necessary to “invest” some time to learn to aim with the head slightly higher than if you were aiming with the aiming notch, but also for this it is enough to provide the kick with thicknesses that make the correct cheek positioning for so say automatically.
