American Success After Franklin D. Roosevelt

The United States has never had another leader like Franklin D. Roosevelt, who served for 12 years, far longer than any other president. He had such a profound impact on the nation and the world that he is widely recognized as one of the transformational figures of the 20th Century and one of America's best presidents. Roosevelt’s New deal introducing game changing social programs changed the role of government in Americans' lives, while his presidency during World War II established the United States' leadership role on the world stage.

United States became a superpower under Roosevelt’s leadership, influencing events around the globe. He steered the Nation into prosperity and out of the great recession. He spearheaded a federal government, with the people's support, and pushed America into becoming the engine of change in nearly all spheres of life both at home and abroad. America would build on that success for many years.

Franklin Roosevelt’s combination of charisma, courage to push boundaries, through the New Deal policies and the Second World War through set America for unprecedented success and greatness way after his era.

Thesis Statement

It is common by some U.S citizens and others to call the U.S.A a great nation. On this essay, I will examine only two factors that some appeal / cite to when arguing for U.S greatness. I will do so by examining how the leadership of FDR and U.S involvement in the WW II are factors in this so called greatness. And answer the question of whether the leadership of Franklin D Roosevelt and the World War Two prove to the world that America is a great country? I will look at his Domestic Policy on how he brought America out of the Great recession and his foreign policy on the World War Two.

Introduction

Franklin D Roosevelt was the 32nd President elected to the presidency four times, serving from March 1933 until his death in office in April 1945. He came into the white House at a time when the Worldwide Economic Depression of the 1930s took its toll in different ways at Home in America, abroad in Europe and Asia. In Asia, a resource-starved Japan began to expand aggressively, invading China and maneuvering to control a sphere of influence in the Pacific. The United States, on the other hand, chose to withdraw from world affairs and concentrate on its own economic problems. He led the nation through the Second World War. Roosevelt built a powerful wartime coalition with Britain and the Soviet Union, and led the nation to victory against Nazi Germany. His wartime efforts prepared the path for his successor, Harry Truman, to win the war against Japan four months after his death.

President Roosevelt leadership spanned 12 years of tumultuous times both at home and abroad and unparalleled both in depth and breadth. The length of his leadership was longer than usual and scope went Global. He took office when the country’s economy was on its knees with all sectors desperately trying to survive. Most farmers were losing their homes to foreclosures and all sectors of the economy were struggling.
