Analysis Of Chivalry In First Knight And King Arthur

The stories of the chivalry, First Knight, and King Arthur. The real medieval England was war, plague, and famine, they defend his church, his king, his country, and victims of injustice. The Knights of Camelot believed to be chivalry, which means to set of rules for gentlemanly and heroic behavior. Chivalry’s ideas are including faith, modesty, loyalty, courtesy, bravery, and honor. All characters show chivalry in their actions and words. King Arthur, Guinevere, Sir Green Knight, Sir Gawain, and Lancelot show chivalry. 

Chivalry was seen in Sir Gawain & the Green Knight when Gawain doesn’t take advantage of Queen Guinevere. Then, they keep honor by showing up at Green Knight’s castle. And, they admit the truth/accept responsibility for telling a lie. King Arthur shows chivalry by welcome Lancelot to Camelot, makes him a knight, and say Camelot is your home, King Arthur is the head of this court. Sir Gawain shows loyalty as a knight when he challenges Green Knight. Lancelot rescues Guinevere a lot willing to accept the responsibility for the kiss. He bound to be called a better man than King Arthur. Guinevere stays true to her word of marrying King Arthur. However, she tries to avoid Lancelot. She beseeches Lancelot. She let this game be her. 

Gawain tries to prove that he is loyalty when he challenged Green Knight. Then, King Arthur let Gawain take the challenge by being a brave/accepting challenge first. And, Lancelot fights to defend camel of Arthur. The Green Knight spares Gawain’s life, and he forgives baul. The sash that Sir Gawain wore, it belongs to Green Knight. Gawain keeps his word, stands up for King Arthur, and respects. Green Knight lost his head but still lives. 

King Arthur doesn’t kill Lancelot for the affair, but he banishes him. He also defends Camelot from Mordred. It was with a heavy heart that he set forth to do battle with one of his own blood. Sir Gawain admits that he started the fight and it’s his fault. And then, he wants Lancelot to help King Arthur. Sir Gawain will never strike a knight who has fallen God defend him from dishonor. Lancelot doesn’t kill Gawain, but he lets him back up. He doesn’t either want to fight King Arthur or Sir Gawain. Lancelot is reluctant to shed Christian blood in a war against his own liege. He knows that these lands have already suffered depredation in the wars. Sir Gawain apologize to Lancelot. He wants peace from Sir Gawain. 

King Arthur, Sir Gawain & Green Knight, Queen Guinevere, and Lancelot show chivalry. Then, Gawain wrote to Lancelot to not blame himself for his death, visit his tomb, say prayers for Gawain, and help King Arthur.
