Analysis Of Documentary About Global Warming
The Earth is forever changing and so are the people of the world with it. The topic of global warming has evolved from a scientific issue to a political issue. Global warming is defined as a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants (Global Climate Change). Politicians have now used scientists to argue whether or not global is an actually event and whether or not it is taking place currently. Accusations about whether or not scientist are being ethical in their findings have been brought up; believing that science can proved anything if given the correct dollar amount. In the documentary titled “Climate of Doubt”, global warming becomes a political issue and the costs of taxes, which was how politicians argued what was best for planet not the science, have become a greater concern than the environment in which we live in and ignoring the fact that individual care in regards to the environment and pollution could reduce the damage done to the Earth (Climate of Doubt).
The film “Climate of Doubt was produced in 2008. A lot has taken place in the world since the production of this film. The Great Recession began in 2008 which put many people out of work and many people to live in poverty. Many households, as a result had to cut back on expenses that were not deemed necessary for living such as recycling. During this economic crisis, there were some families that turned to scrapping aluminum cans and metal for money. In some areas the environment benefited from recycling. People became will mindful of where their money went. Politicians used this to try and gain people’s trust and therefore their votes. Some had argued that plans to help reduce global warming would results in more taxes which turned people away from the idea. It was suggested that scientist were being compensated to have findings that claimed these plans were necessary to reduce global warming (Climate of Doubt).
Global warming is defined as a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants (Climate.NASA.gov). There are many ways in which the carbon dioxide is produced. When people exhaled, carbon dioxide is what is produced. Carbon dioxide is one the products from decomposition which typically takes places where there is garbage. Radioactive waste can produce the various pollutants that contribute to the greenhouse effect. Being mindful of recycling and how people in general depose of trash and chemicals will have less productions of pollutant which benefits the environment and ourselves (Griffiths, pages 460-465). If people would stop making global warming a political and controversial issue that costs money and making it the fact that Earth is home to everyone then this perhaps would not be such a concerning issue.
