Assignment On Ryerson Level Up Leadership Group
Introduction
This assignment will allow students to explore the many student groups, unions, co-curricular opportunities, and student affairs that are accessible through Ryerson.
Being informed on these groups will allow students to develop the necessary skills to become successful in both their personal and academic lives. Method I decided to use a secondary source research method. I was unable to visit any events or workshops, therefore, on-line resources were used for this assignment.
Key Findings
The student affair group I decided to do my assignment on a RU Leadership group referred to as Ryerson Level Up. The RU has a website that is full of helpful information. The level up group helps you use your involvement on both campus and in the community to “write your story and prepare for the next part of your journey”.
“The organization allows students build a profile, track their experience, collect their artifacts and share your story”. The level up group is built on four levels, level one being discovering your strengths, level two is where you explore your community, level three is all about capturing your experience, and finally level four is where you share your amazing story. The level up group allows students to track their accomplishments and experiences while at Ryerson so that they have a story to tell while applying for both jobs or graduate school. Students are able to decide what they believe are worthy extracurricular activates to involve in their stories. “Level Up began in 2016 as a pilot program with 153 student participants. Its success has led to the program being rolled out to entire student body for the 2017-2018 school year”.
The Level Up group is very accessible their website is easy to navigate through and allows interested students to register by clicking the “register now” tab and filling out a few details on themselves as a Ryerson student. Conclusions As Business Management students the stories we write with the Level Up group can help us organize all our accomplishments and extracurricular into one big story that our employers can read to get a better understanding of who we are not only as students but also as community members.
Recommendations
I would highly recommend this resource to any student who wants to pursue graduate school or a professional career after their years at Ryerson. The group allows us to track all achievements and participation in extracurricular activities. Next time I believe that if I was able to actually go to a workshop I would receive a better understanding of what the group is about, however, for the time being on-line resources did a good job of informing me on the main focuses of the group.
