College Days in Canada`s Chandubhai S. Patel Institute of Technology

When the whole world is talking about return on investment in Stocks, Cryptocurrencies, Gold, and FDs, I am stuck to my belief of- “an investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” Obtaining a master’s degree can indeed be an arduous goal, but I didn’t want myself to limit to the partial knowledge of my most loved stream- Computer Science. Also, with a master’s degree in Computer Science, my career will have wider opportunities and more horizons will be opened to showcase my skills. This program is particularly appealing to me, as this will give me a much more extensive, more down-to-earth comprehension of all major concepts of Computer Science, including advanced database systems, computer networks, and algorithms. Being artificial intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data science are omnipresent technologies, studying computer science in detail will make me unable to widen my creative ideas and implement them in a way that can make human lives easy. Also, it's absolutely needless to discuss about the importance of computer science in the modern world. Computer science has been here for mere more or less 50 years, unlike other technologies that we use today. I strongly believe we have still uncovered a small fraction of this science and there is a lot more to witness. And thus, I want to be a part of this journey of unfolding the fascinating sides of Computer Science.

Also, there is a reason behind selecting Canada for doing this course. The first reason to choose Canada for university education is their higher literacy rate. It is among top five countries in the world with the highest rate if literacy. Secondly, the quality of education and practical knowledge is given in the universities here are quite popular and respectable. Therefore, millions of students across the globe dream for seeking admission in Canadian universities and I am one of them. Studying at any reputed university will extremely broaden my academic horizon.

Passing 10th and 12th, two of most milestones with good grades, I immediately opted for the course coveted by me always, ie Information Technologies from an esteemed college- Chandubhai S. Patel Institute of Technology. The college gave me the opportunity to learn a lot of programming languages, web technologies, database handling, and also mobile technologies. I have also got a chance to do an internship with a startup named- Harisamriti Infotech in Ananad where I brought my theoretical know-how onto the practical ground and along with my teammates, we developed a web application named Tailor Shop using ASP .NET technology. I have also been attached to an organization named BISAG in Gandhinagar for an internship where I developed a windows application of Image Steganography in .net technology and received very positive reviews. Such small motivations used to help me keep my eyes sharp on my aim.

Being associated with one of the most reputed colleges, I have got to work on interesting projects which gave me exposure to various topics of computer science. One of my projects in college was on Text Summarization where I developed a project using the Nltk library in NLP which can summarize the given text. I also worked on the Voice based emotion Recognition which I developed using librosa library in Python that identifies the emotions of the actors. Not only this, a project of Movie Recommendation System which predicts the movies based on the user’s choice using collaborative filtering in Python made my knowledge of Python quite exquisite. Lastly, I got a chance to make a Solar System Model that shows the simulation of planets around the Sun. The project was developed using C++ graphics.h library. These projects made me so eager that I added a dash of flavor to my profile by choosing a few extra courses and fetching some extra certificates. I have pulled in some really looked upon certificates for; NPTEL certification of DBMS, Coursera Machine Learning by Stanford University, Andrew Ng, Workshop in Android app development, Stanford Course for Relational Algebra (DBMS), Workshop of Ethical Hacking at IIT Bombay.

From my early days only, I was very fascinated by science and its magic which encouraged me to participate in and win the quiz competitions. I always wanted to be a lifelong learner gaining knowledge of scientific and technological innovations in Computer Science as a software developer or data scientist. Being an extrovert person, I love to participate in various events like Techfest, Sports, and Management activities. I have participated actively as a Technical Event Coordinator at National Level Techfest Cognizance for 2 consecutive years in college days. Not limiting myself to this, I have worked day and night for the Ethical Hacking workshop at IIT Bombay 2017-18 and as a Campus Ambassador at Eximius IIM Bangalore. The culture of these mammoths has added great value to my experience. I am an active listener and keen observer who believe in taking responsibilities and fulfilling them with zeal.

I am a team player with a great sportsman spirit and I strongly believe it is cultivated by being an active sportsperson. I have been very much interested in soccer and cricket from the early days. Not only this, my keen interest and a fire to be good at these sports made me a state-level football player and district-level cricket player. I am also interested in singing songs, dancing, exploring different places, and making contacts worldwide that can enhance my knowledge. My family and friends, who know me closely, call me Determined, Flexible, Responsive, and a Highly organized person.

My college days have left a strong impact on my analytical and reasoning skills over the years which would help me tremendously during the master's program. Here, I have gained an overall perspective of this ever-developing arena of engineering. In due course, I developed a fondness for subjects like Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structures, .NET Technology, Python, Database Management, Theory of Computation, and Principles of Compiler Design and started exploring them beyond the prescribed curriculum. To feed my curiosity, I researched on these subjects on the internet and learned about tremendous advancements in the fields, making me realize that there is a lot to learn in this stream. Education should not be remained limited to the bookish knowledge, believing this, I have participated in many practical projects during my days of graduation which helped me delve deeper into the complexities of the implementation of the theory. Right from the outset of the undergraduate program in Computer Science, I was primarily dedicated towards developing, implementing, and integrating innovative applications. However, after being exposed to database technologies and data analytics, I am keen to develop programs in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science and that’s why I have opted for these subjects as 6th and 7th-semester elective courses.

My studies made me so much enthusiastic to flip through all the areas of computer engineering that I did two summer internships and, NPTEL and Coursera courses. Being an avid computer science learner, I do not wish to keep myself limited to the knowledge of C, C++, Java, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, and Oracle. I believe the college days of my bachelor’s degree were just the gateway to the knowledge of CS and I wish to go miles ahead on this way harnessing the power of education from a reputed college’s master’s course.
