Community Helps Us To Be Humans
What does it mean to be human? “Human beings need to be encouraged to make choices and be responsible for their own lives and for the lives of others. In order to make such choices, we need to reflect and seek truth in meaning. To be human means to remain connected to our humanness and to reality, to choose to move toward connectedness. ” Jean Vanier said “we need one another” because living in relationship or with a community it helps, we can share ideas with each other thats helps all of us we also experience new feelings with each other they will help you went you are stuck, you would learn to be responsible and give support to others. So been in a community or and relationship helps you to become more human because you will experience new feelings that you wouldn't have learn without them.
One of Principles is “Maturity comes through working with others, through dialogue, and through a sense of belonging and searching together. ” when they first came in the class the students sat with their “gang” because they didn't want to get mixed up with the others, went the teacher saw this she mixed everyone because it should not matter your race or culture we should be able to be mature and been able to work with others and respect them she made to a “diary” so they can express them self Laura Romero without feeling judge at the start it was really hard for them to work they way she mixed them but they learn to work with each other and put apart there difference. “Our world and our individual lives are in the process of evolving. It is a question of loving all the individual values of the past and reflecting on how they are lives in the new. These values become openness, love, wholeness, and human potential for healing and redemption, and most important, the necessity of forgiveness. ” As the time past the student learn that they need to heal then bad part in the past to become a better person went they were learning about the holocaust they reflect about their past and went they had to write this diary about their past experiences is very helpful because this kids can't really express or tell this scenarios to others they also realize how similar they are with the other gangs and they have all past for the same situation in life.
“All humans are sacred, whatever their culture, race, or religion, whatever their capacities or incapacities, and whatever their weaknesses and strengths may be, each of us needs help to become what we might be” i think because of their race/culture other people expect them to be like that all the time people judged them without knowing nothing about them but the teacher accomplish that challenge of teaching “unteachable” student but she did it she had to do something different, something memorable something powerful and humane and she did.
Taking everything in consideration the conclusion is that she help them to become more human she didn't care about their race or culture she knew she had a job and she accomplish it she made them understand that it does not matter about your past went you are in community you will always feel safe and feel protect and i think that what they all feel soin the moment she was going to not teach class to them they were sad because she has help them out and support they had is was like a family because they knew they can count with each other no matter what.
