Differences In Body Image Between Man And Woman
Body image is expressed as who has a pretty face, body or is shaped a certain way. The way actors and actresses look like now a day distinguish the way society wants us to look. We feel a certain way about our body based on what we see on television and social media. The supposedly most beautiful people in the world are our influences today and not just regular people. That’s what everybody wants to look like and are not themselves. Man and woman, both have their visuals on how they want to portray themselves to their world.
Most men are satisfied with their physical appearance. You never hear a man saying, “I’m gaining too much weight or this shirt makes me look fat”. If anything, they walk out the house not caring about how they look to the world. One way they express themselves is through their body hair. Men are naturally very hairy and don’t seem to mind it at all. Unlike a girl who would be embarrassed if she walked out the house with unshaved legs. You also never see a guy buying skin care products. They just throw water on their face and call it a day.
Us as women suffer from physical appearance to mental appearance. When I mean mental appearance, I mean the way society sees us. As a woman, we aren’t satisfied with our body because we are portrayed to be something that we are not. Most women go through anorexia, bulimia, and many more disorders to look perfect to the “world”. The way we do our makeup also contributes to how we woman sees each other. In a woman’s eye, we see another woman as competition or something we want to be. At the end of the day, a woman just wants to look perfect in someone’s eyes.
Woman and men have common interests when it comes to their image and that is how they are shaped to one another. They both think that they aren’t equally good for one another. Meaning how they are portrayed in personality and looks. A man can feel like a woman wouldn’t like him because of his weight, but the same goes for a woman. Or a woman might not feel as pretty and then the men would not want to pursue her. It’s basically vice-versa when it comes down to it at the end of the day between the two. In other words, both parties should accept their insecurities and flaws. Everybody isn’t perfect and should learn to accept themselves as they are. Social media and television influences shouldn’t be the cause people are insecure about themselves. People should see the media for what it truly is, a means of covering information or providing entertainment not to make people insecure. Our body is what makes us who we are. Everyone is unique due to our trait. Even though everyone has an opinion about what his or her perfect body would be they should never feel insecure.
