Enif' Book Review: a Precious Knowledge and Life Lessons
The book ‘Enif’ It is a story which will give you precious knowledge summary and life lessons, all wrapped in wrappers of delectable metaphors. The fine details of the storyline, through science fiction prowess, teaches the way life works and gives insights on the machinery of the mind. I got equipped with precious life lessons which will help me greatly on my journey through life. To me, the book was not only a solid, irresistible science fiction adventure but one which left me to ponder about life and the Universe. The intricate framework of our existence was brought into picture for me.
The book written by Russ Berg is about the life of Jerry Humphreys, a geology enthusiast, who embarks on a mission to explore a site of possible geothermal emission which unanticipatedly turns into a dangerous, adrenaline fueled journey through subterranean caverns, thoroughly transforming himself forever. An established person in outdoor activities like mountaineering and survival, Jerry sets out on this journey to have his name among the greats, agreeing to the challenge given by his friend Mark. He is an orphan.
The story begins two months post his beginning of a romantic relationship with Mandy. He is worried about providing to Mandy and his future family and this is one of the factors that compelled him on his journey. He explores the caverns and suddenly, strange things begin to happen. From a hungry lion to objects never seen before, his life is in a dangerous situation. He is immensely threatened. When the dangers disappear into nowhere, his curiosity takes charge and the reader is sucked into an epic adventure that follows. Magical creatures of all possible sorts, landscapes and sounds are the jewels of this book. Jerry fights seemingly neverending battles that radically transforms him from within.
This book Enif is one which I thoroughly enjoyed. The adventures are epic and action packed. The best thing about the book is its sparkling splendour, its richness. The author has written his story with divine vividness and landscapes that he has created are of breathtaking elegance. Not to forget, the sounds that he intended to be heard were richly audible to me. The author is sharp, meticulous and is an expert at touching his readers. He displays imagination that stretches across all possible realms of the Universe. The book takes the reader through lots of emotions and the ways Jerry deals with them. The only thing that made me sad was the condition of Mandy but it was neutralised with hope and other surging emotions when I read the last line of the book which said 'He was ready to help those who became trapped in a journey that would forever change their lives... even his forgotten love, Mandy!'. I exclaimed that this is the greatest ending of all time.
The narrative is not only a science fiction, action loaded adventure. It is a breathtaking, exhilarating adventure. To me, it is a book of a lifetime. Rarely have I come across masterpieces but Mr. Russ's work Enif blew me away in multiple ways. The storyline is of such tender, delicate lucidity that I was sucked into it. The criteria of unputdownability was met with ease.The author and publishers took special care for us, readers and that is easily evident from the flawlessly edited text of the story. One or two minor errors were present which were futile in distorting the organic nature of the book. I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars.
Overall readers of science fiction, adventure, mystery will thoroughly love the book. This book has a storyline that secretively hologramises the science of the mind and the Universe and lovers of these two aspects should definitely put their hands on Enif.
