The phase of transformation of media has been brought up with unpleasant concerns and obstacles. Blames of hallucination, biased nature and deteriorated quality has been thrown at media on regular basis. Yet the progress of communication technology has given the opportunity to invade the resources more efficiently and any other tools available for work or in other words more easily than previous scenario. From its origin to till date it has came with various tools such as print, radio, television, internet news. It could be broad spectrum or limited depending on its focus. It could be local, national or even worldwide. The options and opinions are huge and diverse. The evolution of media summary will explain the advancements of media from beginning to up to now.

During its origin it was only presented to local mass through print press. While several portions of masses had printers and occasional newspapers and the desires to explores more lead to advancements of the media which made Boston a first perfect location in order to develop a newspaper and first continuous press in 1704. Newspaper spreads the information about the nearby events, incidents and the activities. With its advancements it lead to The Stamp Tax of 1765 exceeded the capital for publishers but soon repealing of the tax quitted the concerns for short while, but the editors and writers soon interrogated the right of British to rule over the colonies. Newspaper was the protagonist source of information in order to spread information and news regarding the misdeeds and incite attempts to revolts. In fact, according to the reports readership across the colonies inclined to nearly forty thousand houses among overall population of two million and regular papers sprang up in large towns. Decades were running and the newspapers popularity and the readership was touching sky. Between 1830 and 1860, new machines were introduced and the process of production was much faster and less expensive which included the gossips so were just penny per newspaper. By the end of The Civil War, more journalists and editors were aiming to meet the occupational standards of realism, impartial and accuracy. Yet the readers wanted to be entertained so in order to fulfill this desire Joseph Pulitzer with collaboration of The New York World designed the tabloid styled newspaper which included the editorials, cartoons and images while the front page seems like sensational conspiracy which attracted the readers. And soon after that the editors started printing advertisements which lead to inclined and secure capital for agencies and publishers. Nowadays, given the countless different kinds of news, many of which are free, newspaper subscriptions have reduced. Advertisements and the classified revenue dipped. Some local newspapers in an effort to stay visible and profitable have turned to social media.

Within evolution of traditional to new media essay, another tool of media was radio. Radio news made its appearance in the 1920s. The National Broadcasting Company began running sponsored news. Talk shows, religious shows and some educational shows also took participation by late 1930s, game shows and quiz were added airways. Reports even claim that almost 83 percent of the households had tuned to radio by 1940. Yet it was Franklin Roosevelt who became the most popular for harnessing the political tycoon of radio. His speeches were known as fireside chats. Meanwhile the print media still controlled the much news and information resources flowing to the public. As radio news programs were limited but in 1940 German annexation of Austria, conflict in Europe and the world war changed the radio forever. Because the newspaper was delivering on the daily basis and radio news broadcasts were available more frequently and the desires of people to know more about the conflicts and the radio was the perfect mode to fulfill the desires. The number of professional radio station grew quickly and radio stations were able to choose their own broadcasting locations frequencies and sometimes due to tuning of news at sometime it created the disaster for the listeners. Then the Radio Act 1927 created the first attempts of setting standards such as usage of some profane words prohibited during the some essential and secured hours of day on the public airways.

It was around the end of the 18th century when Graham Bell’s revolutionary invention of the telephone took the place of the telegraph soon after. Under which the natural audio was converted into the electronic signals which are further sent through the channel called cables.

Then television was invented and it becomes an indirectly information provider to the individual as well as a mass audience. At the beginning around the 19th century, there were mechanical televisions, every first model had a small display on the right and huge cabinet. These televisions were very simple as compared to today’s latest technology one. To sum up the evolution of traditional to new media essay, it can be noted that now media in the form of television is not popular. More and more people are starting to use social networks and the Internet for daily information and recreational content.
