Finding Your True Self - is the Biggest Life Solution
Everyone has that one experience that makes them look at life with a new set of eyes. Some changing us for the better, others for the worse. Both ways happen for a reason, to help prepare you for the future. Good and bad experiences can come from something that is life changing. Quarantine has shaped who I am as a person by discovering a healthy lifestyle, getting closer with my family and finding my true self.
Having a healthy lifestyle is all about choosing to live your life in the healthiest way possible. I am able to stay motivated and keep my goals rolling. I will admit it was a struggle to maintain it but at the end of the day it was all worth it. Some of the things that helped me were eating clean, getting plenty of sleep and staying physically active everyday. I felt good about myself that I had something to do, something I enjoy. Cooking my meals would be the most exciting part of the day because I got creative. For example, I am on Instagram and Pinterest most of the time trying to get food inspiration. Before I had a healthy lifestyle, I felt like I was getting nowhere in life and that I was not prepared for the future. Now, it has helped me gain a better mindset.
Before quarantine I would rarely spend time with my family because of my school schedule. The only time we’d spend a lot of time would be on the weekends which wasn’t enough. Ever since quarantine, I feel like we’ve spent more time together and even got to know some things we never knew about each other. Especially since I’m doing online school, spending time with them is more than what I’ve expected. I will always remember the dinners we had while laughing and sharing how our days went. Without quarantine existing I would probably still be rarely spending time with my family. I’m beyond grateful that I have this opportunity because when we spend time together it makes me feel so thrilled that I want to cherish each and every moment.
Finding your true self is the most important thing you can do for your self-development and for you to achieve real happiness. During quarantine I took so much time to focus on myself. I wanted to feel good about my health and myself specifically. To be honest, it did take lots of time and effort, but it was all worth it. Finding my true self has helped me gain a better perspective on my life and avoid negative energy. I not only found myself, but I also became a better person for others by being helpful and responsible. I realized who I truly am, not who I wanted to be. To illustrate my point, every night I would ask myself what I’m passionate about and write it down in a journal I kept beside my bed to remind myself that I need to be me. Prior to finding myself, I always felt like I wasn't allowed to make mistakes or set small goals and achieve them. I never really focused on the present because I was too busy thinking about either the past or the future. I'm sometimes unaware of what's going on around me because I'm dwelling on events from the past or worrying about situations that might occur in the future. As a matter of fact, once I thought I was going to lose my best friend because she didn’t answer her messages for days. Overthinking really does mess up with your mental health. It puts you in a loop of constantly thinking over and again. My advice to avoid this is to just live in the present, whatever happened in the past happened for a reason. Plus, it’s already in the past and it doesn’t matter. Take a deep breath.
Experiences and memories shape who we are. There is no limit to what changes we can make in ourselves, our world, and our communities if we all feel empowered to change our actions and behaviors. Quarantine has shaped me into a person who doesn’t take things for granted and lives every moment to it’s fullest. You only live life once so live it like you mean it.
