Future Effect Of Robots And Automation On Human Jobs

Automation is here. Automation in factories is found in high numbers. A car which a person drives is made by a robot That car can have an artificial intelligence system, so it won’t even need a human, which is an example of automation itself. This tells us about the automation’s impact. From bartending to farming there is automation. With robots taking over, people are worried about their jobs.

Automation will affect human jobs, it will mostly affect middle-aged professionals. As they will now struggle to cope up with technology. How much a job will be impacted by automation also depends on the occupation as well. Some restaurant owners are even using the robot waiters. A person who do the labor work in a factory will be highly affected by this. There are people in factories who are currently being highly affected by the rise automation, the number of people affected by automation are likely to increase in the future. Bus and taxi drivers, they are likely to be affected by this as well. Their jobs can be influenced by automated vehicle technology in coming times. Maybe Uber will depend on automated vehicle technology, because the passengers will not mind it. But the question is, who is going to give them the license? Robots taking over will mean less human error. This will be music to the owner’s ears but it can be customers choice, who he likes to be served by. Robots taking over will mean less tax for the government. It won’t be music to their ears.

Humans have abilities, emotions and many things that robots will never have. Like social interaction, persuading the other person and negotiating. We can work in a team, we can help one another, we know how to deal with customers. Jobs which require communication skills or abilities like caring, are safe. People like teachers and nurses are safe. The reason can be lack of communication from the other side that the customer does not like. There will not be a robot who is an artist, so that goes off the list too. This answers the question about mass unemployment that is in everyone head. But if anyone not wants to be left behind should have some level of technical knowledge. We have to make sure that automation not fully takes over. The leaders and policymaker’s decisions would be crucial regarding this. The only silver lining is that, the mass elimination of jobs to automation is not going to happen overnight. It will take its time. Report by McKinsey suggests that half of today work activities may not be automated till 2055. The world is changing. The future is here. It’s time to adopt to the changing world.
